Okay, so an affair between consenting adults is private, and perjury is not a high crime ...
what the hell was 1998-1999 about?

Mannthrax Coultergeist whined that the Libby conviction better not be over some trifle such as lying to Congress or perjury, and Dobson is saying that Gingrich having an affair whilst impeaching Clinton was not something that should be made into a big deal ...

So-o-ooooo ...

What the hell was the impeachment process all about in 1998-1999??????????????

3. 1998-1999 was about the beginning of a dark age in America
2000-2008 are the continuation of what started during the Clinton witch hunt, all by design.

Thanks Newt!

4. If I've read their playbook correctly...
Edited on Tue Mar-13-07 11:55 AM by Orrex
Libby's perjury (or "perjury," as Wingnuts call it) isn't a big deal because the investigation itself was an exercise in futility. Bob Novak said as much on his recent appearance on Charlie Rose. According to Novak, DOJ already knew who the leak was because Novak told them, so no investigation was necessary. Therefore, since the investigation wasn't necessary, then lying while striving to disrupt/forestall/derail that investigation is no crime.

And Gingrich's adultery isn't on the same scale as Clinton's because, because Clinton had a history of womanizing, and he perjured himself during an investigation of sexual misconduct, and for heaven's sake the poor intern was little more than a girl! And Gingrich's first duty was to ferret out the truth before The American People, and in any case he wasn't or shouldn't have been the one under scrutiny. After all, didn't Clinton bomb Bosnia to distract from Monicagate? How can such a man, nay a monster, be permitted to retain the highest office in the land?

Of course, that's how I've been reading their playbook, so I may be wrong. But I'll say this: once you depart from reality and leap headlong into crazed Wingnuttery, it gets easier and easier to expostulate about pretty much anything. I guess that's how Limbaugh as stayed on air all these bloated years.

5. Oh, that's not even the half of it!
They claim Clinton admitted he lied, but Scooter 'maintains his innocence'. (So do 99% of convicted felons.)

Poor ol' Ken Starr just doesn't get credit for anything anymore.

6. According to Roseanne Barr, the real reason Republicans got heated over it
was because Monica was a girl. Everyone knows that BJs are only permissable in Republicans eyes if administered by a pretty young boy.
