... that Elizabeth's latest follow-up tests confirm she is cancer-free, and in perfect health.

28. I'm with you and I'm guessing that it IS good news.
If it were bad news, they would just come right out announce it. Saying that they will make an announcement will just make sure that it gets good coverage. Smart politics!!

9. I wish I could say I believed that.
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 09:38 PM by BerryBush
However, I doubt they would be calling a press conference to announce that kind of news.

I feared this from the moment I heard he'd gone to be with her during this "callback."

It sounds very much to me like she's had a recurrence, and he's planning to announce his withdrawal as a candidate in order to help her fight again.

Don't get me wrong, I hope and pray this is incorrect. But I fear that it won't be.

on edit: Oh, and my apologies for the "negative vibes." But I don't believe my words are capable of making things any better or worse than they are. They already are what they are. What I say here won't change anything.

Such good, purely good, honest, loving individuals and great Americans do not deserve foul play from life...

25. They both represent the best HUMANITY has to offer... they are GOOD people
I'm very sensitive to these kind of things... good people, people with in touch with their humanity, people that give themselves to others, who serve to help and for the pleasure of serving, do NOT deserve foul play from life.

This hurts me...

16. Edwards will drop out of the race if Elizabeth's health becomes an issue
Edwards has his priorities right, and family comes first. If he drops out, it will create a feeding frenzy by the other campaigns to grab as many of his supporters as they can.

usually bad news is something that is known or leaked to media rather than formally announced. and the formal announcement is made later.

45. Not really, he would want to control it to keep it accurate and in perspective
Every politician (or other famous people) has used a press conference, usually with the doctors. Things are usually not completely black or white, and they would want to explain what the status is - likely very specifically, what they plan to do and the prognosis.

John Edwards to Discuss Wife's Health

By NEDRA PICKLER
The Associated Press
Wednesday, March 21, 2007; 11:35 PM

WASHINGTON -- Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards accompanied his wife, Elizabeth, who has been treated for breast cancer, on a doctor's visit Wednesday. His campaign said they would hold a news conference in their hometown Thursday to discuss her health.

Campaign officials refused to answer any questions about what the Edwardses learned at the doctor's appointment or how it might affect his candidacy. Edwards had cut short a trip to Iowa Tuesday night to be with his wife Wednesday but still attended a barbecue fundraiser later in the evening in their hometown of Chapel Hill, N.C.

44. you don't know that.
maybe we should wait for the press conference.

If she is terribly ill, I'd wager he is out. If she is battling the kinds of complications that are too common with recovery, I'd guess she would push him strongly to continue. That is one powerful woman.

I hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and we'll all know soon.
