1. Present
Until someone comes out with full, unashamed support for my equal rights, I can not in good conscience support any candidate in the primary.

3. John Edwards
This will be a great story if he wins now, and how can republicans attack him with his wife ill? It would look really low.

8. They Will Attack Him, And Successfully

How can Republicans attack him, you ask? That's easy - they're Republicans - enough said.

It will be the Right Wing Media, not the candidates. Mitt Romney - his wife has MS and I don't think he's that low. Guiliani is low enough, but I think he's too smart to throw stones and criticize anyone's family values. McCain, maybe, but as a cancer survivor too, he may just see it as bad karma. Besides, McCain has learned to traingulate so well in the past 8 years, he knows it will look really low.

What will be the nature of the attack? They will say John Edwards is callous and selfish and not devoted to his family for running when "his poor wife is dying." As long as Mrs. Edwards is healthy enough and strong enough to campaign, such criticisms will be easy to deflect. They will accuse the Edwards of exploiting her illness for political gain.

Never underestimate how low the Republicans will go to hold on to power.

19. So what?
As you said, they are Republicans. They will attack any candidate we nominate, like wild wolverines. There is no reason I see to assume that the attacks will work more against Edwards than they will against anyone else.

26. Don't think Romney's that low? Romney has the swiftboat team on board - there is no depth he won't
sink to in order to get the Repub nomination. Expect the nastiest primary campaign in history against Giuliani, and it will not come directly from Romney (Romney may even publicly disapprove of it), but it will be from Romney supporters on Romney's behalf with Romney's quite blessing.

10. Mike Gravel...
you've got two candidates who are not running, and left one out who is running. The only thing I think this poll measures is the support Gore would have at DU if he ran in the primaries.

27. I like him but he has two problems for me. 1. Too old 2. His tax proposal is
impractical and does nothing to address the primary issue of the lower wage earners paying far too great a portion of their income to support a system that doesn't support them.

Huh. I guess you're right.. she didn't do good AT ALL.

25. Considering that the war is THE issue, it's mind-boggling!
I am sure GOP can't wait to highlight our warmonger potential candidate support for war thus taking it off the table as difference between the parties....It's the one issue they can't surpass, and we can't field a strong, genuine anti-war candidate!
