Yes! The Edwards campaign comes through for the NOLA vendor.
Some of you may recall this instant DU classic from last week:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=3227494&mesg_id=3227494

involving the New Orleans company that produced the video of his Lower Ninth Ward campaign announcement not being paid -- as it turned out, by a third party, NOT by the Edwards campaign, which DID pay the third party promptly.

Now the Edwards campaign has resolved the issue, for once and all, I hope.

http://theamericanzombie.blogspot.com (post of Wednesday, April 25)

In the meantime....let me officially put this one in the grave.

From the Edwards campaign:

Dambala,

Thank you for the post. I just want to clarify that the Edwards
campaign paid the vendor in a timely manner (I believe within a week
or so of the event). The vendor, however, did not fulfill his
responsibility and pay the subcontractors in a timely manner.
Clearly, this was a huge problem and completely unacceptable. No
vendor that we hire for any project should ever do such a thing to
other vendors they subcontract.

Upon hearing of this situation, I took immediate action to get this
resolved. The vendor has fedexed these checks.

If the checks do not make it to
them, we will take another course of action. The bottom line: they
will be paid asap.

And I confirmed this with one of the local contractors. Subsequently, I have deleted the posts on the issue at the request of our local guys. The power of the internet is an amazing thing...I didn't post this story for it to be used as fodder for campaign attacks or "swiftboating" (I'll cancel the 2 million dollar ad buys). Our Nawlin's peeps are getting paid so I have no problem taking the posts down.

So firstly...I want to make a great big bow to John Edwards and his campaign. I no longer doubt his sincerity or integrity on his pledge to help New Orleans. One of the contractors told me they were even ready to pay out of pocket if Sausage didn't pony up. That was above and beyond the call of duty.

Period. End of story. Good luck to John in the debate tonight in his native state (he moved to NC as a small boy)! And of course, all the best to Elizabeth :loveya:

Seriously, I'm glad everyone got paid for the work they did. Now back to our regularly scheduled issues (Iraq, Rebuilding and Protecting SE Louisiana, etc)

9. Speaking of rebuilding and protecting SE La....
did John, or any other candidate, mention us last night? Another NOLA blogger thinks not:

http://ashleymorris.typepad.com/ashley_morris_the_blog/2007/04/democratic_deba.html

Kucinich would get my support if he 1) gave a flying fuck about the Gulf South, and 2) wasn't a hippie-dippie crystal worshipping new age basket case....

I also want to congratulate Brian Williams and MSNBC for asking those hard hitting questions about repairing the federally funded levees, and rebuilding New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. I especially enjoyed the inquires about reparations for all south Louisiana citizens hurt by the failure of the levees.

Oh, wait.

Back when Bush** failed to mention "Hurricane Corrina" in SotU, DU jumped down his throat, and rightly so. What now, when the silence is coming from Dems?

I'm glad to see our long national nightmare is now over

   All hail the King!

10. Is there a transcript somewhere?
There is a difference, however, between a moderated debate and the SotU address. In the state of the union, the presidenmt gets to talk about whatever is important. In a moderated debate, participants are to stick to the questions asked

shame on MSNBC for not asking about Katrina/NOLA/Mississippi etc.

11. Twenty pages' worth. Enjoy!

Point well taken about Bush** speech vs. Dem debate. However, dark-horse candidate KamaAina would have tried to find a way to work NOLA and the region into an answer somehow, assuming of course that Bush** shill Brian Williams asked about anything besides terraterraterra, that is.

12. Thanks
I quite agree--if I were advising any of the candidates, I'd focus on the administration's complete inability to manage the crisis in the Gulf. They certainly could have worked it in, and even tied it to the theme of ideology versus competence.

13. Edwards has class....some don't.
Edited on Sat Apr-28-07 11:38 PM by madfloridian
What happened here last week was shameful.

What a poster did here and what a blogger did was try tarnish the reputation of a good man just coming off news his wife had stage 4 cancer.

It took class to do what he did.

The person who did the hits here has never apologized. KONO had to do the research to find the truth.

Then Edwards supporters were called names.

Edwards paid them right away, and he had already resolved the issue. But that did not help him.

At least he is getting kudos for going after the contractors for not paying....but it was a terrible shame how it happened here last week.

14. I tend to agree for the most part. I will give serious kudos to the blogger for admitting he was
wrong about Edwards from the start. He even deleted his previous posts about it and wrote a huge post saying how Edwards didn't deserve what he gave him.

So, if mr. American Zombie is reading this thread, thanks for your honesty and work!

15. I have not been back to the blog since I was called....
"batshit insane".

I think I won't.

I am all for apologies. It was nice if he did. But it was an ugly time and a painful night after watching the Edwards family coping so graciously with her illness.

It was not long after their joint appearance that Elizabeth said to a group that she knew the cancer would beat her, but that she would keep fighting.

I don't know how the Edwards family does it, takes the hits and keeps going. I felt the same way about Dean last time. A good man and gracious and smart...and the hits never quit from his own party.

It has left me sort of sick inside. I have seen Dean attacked by Carville, Begala, and Hilary Rosen just recently. In an ugly way.

I wonder how the Edwards do it, and I wonder why Dean even bothers to try to change anything at all. But we support him still. We will be voting for Edwards, but wishing it were Howard Dean

Hey, I got called insane when we were Deaniacs, so why not now?

My hubby is angry about the war, as I posted. He is angrier than ever that Dean was blasted and humiliated for speaking out. He has today recalled every thing was done to Dean. He is far angrier than I have seen him. It started while he watched Tenet on Countdown.

Our country does not deserve people like those two men whom they make fun of in every way possible.

16. This arrogant Zombie buffoon ought to be ashamed of his own behavior...
Rather than using the information he had to quietly help resolve the situation, he used his platform take an unnecessary cheap shot at a good Dem - contrary to his overloud protests that he wasn't "swiftboating" JE.

And now he's crowing about what a great job he did.

:puke:
