Obama inspires crowd with excitement, hope
If Barack Obama wanted to fire up a crowd of young educated voters Tuesday night on his "Generation Barack Obama" tour, one need look no further than Elisabeth Voigt - a 29-year-old San Francisco lawyer who jumped up and down after she shook his hand.

Or Angelica Jongco, another lawyer, who said, "I feel like I'm part of something," after Obama grabbed her outstretched hand and shook it.

"We believe in you!" she told him.

"I feel inspired," she said. "I think I'm someonethat can be cynical, but I do believe he will follow through on his promises - and he represents a choice that is different and inclusive in the way no one else is."

Sandeep Sood, 30, who lives in Berkeley and runs a software company, said after Obama's 8:30 p.m. rally that he felt like "you're in a church and everyone's going crazy."

"He's the first politician who speaks to our generation," Sood said. "I'm not really political, but I'm really inspired by the guy."

2. "This isn't American Idol here, we're choosing the president," –Dennis Kucinich
Nice quote in your sig line. Doesn't quite fit with your "Obama is a Rock Star!" story, though.
:yourock:
"This isn't American Idol here, we're choosing the president, we have to look at the audition that occurred in 2003 when my good friends were called on to make a decision, and they made the wrong decision. Apologies are not enough....the people are looking for a president to make the right choices, and the integrity to make the right decision even if it's unpopular." –Dennis Kucinich

12. Good for you, wish more would use the hide thread feature, but
are you trying to discourage Edwards supporters from posting here? That wasn't very nice of you.

15. How does posting pro-Obama thread "discourage" Edwards-lookit-I'm campaigning" threads?
Edwards supporters are posting a post a minute.....and I don't think that I can stop them or discourage them....I can only hide the mundane PR release threads; that's all.

6. Dare I say I am very reminded of Bobby Kennedy back in 1968?
I see the same enthusiasm in the crowds, the same honesty, intelligence, pragmatism and heart in the candidate, even the same put-downs from people who don't get it. I've been waiting 40 years for someone who has a smidgen of what Bobby had. I think Obama is it.

9. RFK = Civil Rights Champion, Unfulfilled Legacy, Restoration of Myth...
Obama's no Bobby Kennedy. 2007 isn't 1968.
Perhaps a thoughtful Obama might conclude he is a result of Bobby Kennedy...

10. That's what he's good at
Offering platitudes. No substance.

I hope we don't nominate him.

13. Platitudes and Substance are relative!
Just cause someone says something, doesn't make it any more substansive.

All of the candidates are "talking" about what they are gonna do. None of them are really doing that much or have that much to show in terms of what they have really done. Just cause someone says I'l do this, and I'll do that.......far as I'm concerned, doesn't mean much.

If we don't nominate someone offering platitudes without substance, none of the candidates will end up as the nominee...including Edwards, Clinton, Biden, Dodd, Obama, etc.....

Duh! :eyes:

24. Hope and excitement are fine, but is there substance?
We elected Deval Patrick in Massachusetts because he was hopeful and inspirational. But the guy is a clown. There was nothing to him, he makes mistake after mistake. Thats what I fear about Obama. All sizzle.
