Jonathan Falwell Defends poor Annorexia Coulter.
I subscribe to "Falwell Confidential" and get some of the most amazing memos. It seems Jonathan Falwell is more political than I thought. I thought FINALLY the mouth from the South had been silenced and his ignorance went with him, but it seems Jerry Falwell's son is following in Daddy's footsteps and, basically, by his statement in this letter then "Two wrongs DO make a right." (here we go yet again).

(I printed most all of the email that I received as it is my property once it is sent to me).

Defending Ann

This week, I read that Ann Coulter had said some pretty shocking things about Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards.

I wondered why she would say such things.

Then, as Paul Harvey might say, I read the rest of the story.

Here’s the gist: On ABC’s “Good Morning America” broadcast, Ann Coulter was asked about some critical language she had used about Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards. In her response, she recalled something that the often coarse comedian Bill Maher once said about Vice President Dick Cheney.

She said, “… you know, Bill Maher was not joking and saying he wished Dick Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack -- so I’ve learned my lesson: If I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”

Her point was that Bill Maher, a liberal, can get away with saying the most scandalously terrible things about a national leader, so she’ll do the same thing since it is evident that that type of language is acceptable on the public airwaves.

But that language is not acceptable.

That is, if you’re a conservative.

And so the media has been reporting, quite erroneously, that Ann Coulter has stated that she wishes John Edwards was killed by terrorists.

It would be funny if it weren’t so pitiful.

You see, the truth doesn’t seem to matter these days.

The media appear to be more concerned with creating perception than reporting the news.

It sometimes amazes me that members of the mainstream press do not even comprehend the basics of a story. I wonder if they are simply slow-minded or if they are willfully blinded by their political agendas.

It’s got to be one or the other.

Whatever the case, it is increasingly evident that there is no equal playing field in the so-called mainstream media, the great embracers of “diversity.”

Miss Coulter was on the Fox News Channel’s “O’Reilly Factor” on Thursday night and she seemed to be worn out by the continuing dishonest portrayals of her words.

Who wouldn’t be?

So I say this to Miss Coulter: As long as you continue to contradict the policies of the mainstream — which expect us to gullibly accept everything they say — you will carry a target on your back. This is a truth that my dad experienced almost daily throughout his 51 years in ministry.

It is apparent that when you stand up for conservative values, and especially when you stand up for Christian values, you will be ridiculed. But as my dad often said, we are not called to be popular, we are called to be faithful.

Ann, rest assured, there are millions of people in this nation who appreciate your willingness to step into hostile fire in order to point out the inconsistencies of the mainstream. May you be bolstered by our prayers and well wishes.

Ann Coulter is a faithful Christian????? Yeah, when pigs fly! And Jonathan, what about Coulter's remarks about the Edward's teenage son who died in a car wreck . . . have you nothing to say about that as a Christian? Two faced hypocrites!

1. Thanks for the post.
I just signed up for Richard Land's email newsletters (or whatever)(he's a leader in the Southern Baptist Convention).

Maybe we can exchange information about the spew the Religious Right comes up with.

It just shows what a political machine these RR leaders have created.

By the by, I watched that Bill Maher episode; he did NOT say that he wished Cheney dead. What he said was that, if Cheney had died, more would be alive.

So, AnnThrax, get it right!

And even if Maher had made an outrageous comment, it wouldn't justify her spew!

3. I'd like to do that Matt. I use to watch Falwell every Sunday morning
just to see what kind of outrageous remarks he would make. Election years the man went nuts and tended to spew his politics behind the pulpit more then his preaching.

We can email here on DU any updates to each other or if you want, we can do it through private email and/or post the comments on a free webpage that you and I only would use (free of course).

Let me know what you think, okay?

I can give you a PM here, and we'll go from there. Too bad we couldn't think of a good book to write (HeeHee).

9. Maybe over time we will have enough information about these
two and their hypocrisy to write one. Shouldn't take too long considering what is already coming out of Jonathan Falwell's mouth. I was really surprised because while his father was alive, and when Jonathan filled in, he never took his sermons toward politics. Every Sunday though Jerry Falwell spewed his hate speech from behind his pulpit.

The Old Time Gospel Hour transcripts are published on their site as well as the actual sermon is available to watch; however, they will edit out anything political that may have come up during their sermon. It seems to me that if they felt so strongly about their points, then why edit them out?? Maybe afraid of the tax man???

I think I'm going to start recording The Old Time Gospel Hour by tape and that way I can upload any differences and expose them for the hypocrits they are. I will also watch it once they post the transcript from the show. That way I can fill in any edits they make.

Then we can take it from there and see what develops.

10. Bill Maher appears a LIBERTARIAN.
Maher does not take liberal positions. For the most part libertarian economic policies mean taking no government action to help unemployed people, poor people, disabled people and retired people, etc.

5. I hate it when they do that.
I, for the life of me, do not understand why the Hardright thinks that is so clever.

8. So they are pissed off because the media has usurped their role in defining morality.
Not one word condemning anybody for advocating murder. No, just the media "hypocrisy".
