The Candidate Groupies have taken over
If it's reached the point where somebody can be taken seriously while suggesting that Obama is racist for joking that he's not having an affair with Biden, then it's safe to say that the forum has been hijacked by the dozen or so posters here who view their candidate as a messiah and dredge up any little bit of bullshit they can to smear the competition.

What's bizarre about this is that Obama, Edwards, and Clinton all lie in a narrow band of the ideological spectrum. The course of this nation won't be much different if one of the three lives in the White House versus the other two (especially since their agendas will be dampened by a Congress with its own set of priorities.) So I just don't get how somebody can worship one of them while hating on the others.

Time to dust off the "Ignore" button, I guess.

1. I don't like candidate groupies.
Personally, I find it ridiculous that anybody could support any of them so vehemently this early in the game.

6. With The Primaries So Front Loaded
We really have little choice. I'm not saying everyone has to pick this early, but if there is a candidate someone strongly feels is best qualified, the supporter pretty much has to get in the game early to have a shot at making a play (and to help their candidate, too_

I'll never forget 2003/2004 - I didn't pay too any attention until the end of 2003 and didn't really start trying to decide until right before Iowa. After all, my state's primary was the second week in March. I had plenty of time - or so I thought.

I'm not making that mistake again.

What I don't like and have come to see as bad is bashing other candidates. I'm not going to say not to speak ill of them but I am going to say, don't say anything you wouldn't want a Republican saying in the general election.

4. Some people seem to need heroes and messiahs
I will continue to do lots of eye rolling and try to avoid obvious hero worshiping or demonizning posts, only rudeness provokes my ignore function. As time goes on, I'll probably avoid candidate centered posts, altogether, unless there's actually some news about one of them.

7. Hero worship is a dangerous thing
Having said this I do favor a couple of the candidates but I don't see either as a "messiah" and I certainly don't hate any of the others. My preferences at this time have more to do with elect-ability than anything else.
Initially there were all these hideous nasty posts about Hillary but now the negative attention seems to be turning to Obama. Edwards seems to have mostly escaped thus far probably because of sympathy for Elizabeth but I suspect this also will wear off and he will get his turn. This is my first experience on DU during a primary season and I must say the dialog on the candidates seems to be deteriorating rapidly. I can't even imagine what it will be like in 6 months.

8. At least you don't have to deal with Ron Paul Groupies
The worst of the worst. I posted a video on youtube a week or so ago and these freaks descended on it like a pack of hyenas on meth.

9. They are pretty lame.
Few of them are rarely even funny, which would at least make up for some of it. :)

10. the ignore button can help save some brain cells from committing suicide.

I started using it a week or so ago. My new policy is that I'll give people a few chances to correct my initial suspicion is wrong. After half a dozen chances or so I just make them go away. I couldn't take it anymore. It was funny for awhile and then it just got to the point where I felt guilty for spending (wasting) my time intentionally reading such worthless/useless garbage.
