Rasmussen: Edwards Handily Leads Giuliani, Thompson
Former Senator John Edwards now attracts 50% support in the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey matching him with former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani. He leads Giuliani 50% to 41%. The poll also shows Edwards with a ten-point advantage over former Senator Fred Thompson, 49% to 39%.

5. Get Edwards to endorse single-payer and an early Iraq pullout and he'd be a LOCK for the nomination!
The path of courage is the path to victory.

3. It makes perfect sense to me.
He's the one with real ideas about helping out the people vs. the corporations.

Other than Al Gore, he's the one that I want to win the primary and general election.

15. Ermmmm
So what exactly IS the magic number between 46% negatives and 43% negatives, in a poll with at least that MOE, that makes Edwards the "best chance" and Hillary's negatives "too high"?

I mean I'd LOVE it if we went just for the lowest negatives because my boy Bill Richardson has the second lowest of the lot - and that only to a guy who can't even get close to 50% of the population to even HAVE an opinion about him.

So what metric are we using here?

6. Edwards Cannot, And Will Not Win
The guy has a multitude of problems, including his green initiatives. I do not like him, and his wife is driving me up the wall.

10. This is an interesting poll. Good news for Edwards.
I followed the link in the OP and read the article. Here's a quote:

"Edwards currently leads the top four Republican candidates by an average of nearly nine points. Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton leads the top GOP hopefuls by an average of six points while Barack Obama holds an average lead of five points."

You can find all the figures here:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_2008_edwards_vs_giuliani_and_thompson

Anyone who remembers the Iowa caucuses of 2004 will know that many caucus-goers ask themselves "which of these candidates can actually go on to win the Presidency?". In 2004, they went for John Kerry, closely followed by John Edwards.

This poll confirms my belief that John Edwards will keep fighting and will not even think about quitting the race until after February 6th.

I don't think it's just because Edwards is a white male. I think many people have legitimate questions about what kind of a President Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama would be.

14. Look at the numbers against Mitt Romney
Edwards has an 11-point lead over Romney.

Hillary has a 9-point lead over Romney.

Obama has a 3-point lead over Romney.

12. Glad we don't pick presidents that way (nationally, I mean)
We pick them state to state.

Given a choice between Edwards and either of the other Republicans, I'd go Green.

13. My new game plan is to avoid threads that speak ill, are nasty, and don't discuss Edwards.
