NOT ONE REPUBICAN voted to condemn Rush Limbaugh
for his "phony soliers" remarks.

I hope our Leadership now understands concretely trying
to get any consensus on serious legislation is futile.

I must say the GOP look after and protect their own.

I picked this up from Tom Harkin as he spoke on the Senate
Floor.

1. The Dems in Congress really do need to get their shit together.
I'm sick of their bullshit tactics.

No spine, no balls, just useless, meaningless words and threats.

Oh, they're going to hold Bush accountable. They're going to have hearings to get to the bottom of it.

Well, get to it already! You've done NOTHING to stop this crap. DO SOMETHING!

2. And no republican ever will condemn him either
I have actually come to believe that limbaugh must have something incriminating on a lot of people and will never ever get fired, or even scolded. It's hard to believe that anyone listens to him and takes him seriously.
GO CUBS!

3. And nobody in the media will report this.
I hope that Reid and Pelosi get a clue. The Republicans are not interested in "playing nice." They do not like to share their things, they run with scissors, and they can't be allowed to play unsupervised. It's pointless to try to put them in the big kids' room - they will just behave badly and have to get put in time out again.

Reid and Pelosi better understand this! There is not one Republican I support. Hagel and Warner are still right wing scumbags! We agree on the war and that is it! Other than the war, Hagel and Warner are right wing cons.

6. I happened to turn on C-Span and Harkin was giving a
a speech in which he indicated--Not one Republican would
condemn R. Limbaugh's "Phony Soldiers" remarks. The
Silence is deadening said Harken. He went on to explain
how a group of soldiers had written an oped Letter in which
they expressed disagreement with the the war. Two of these
soldiers have since been killed in action. Are these the
"phony soldiers" ????? The speech was much longer, but
the most significant thing to me was--No GOP Member would
criticize the remarks.

As I said earlier--The GOP win because they stick together
and protect their own. They come out looking tough strong
and refusing to be intimidated.

8. Phony Soldiers
This is an outrage! Just listen to Rush's own words:

"I want to illustrate something for you today, folks. I've done it before. I want to do it again. I call this the anatomy of a smear, and what this is is a great illustration of the liberals and the Democrat Party playbook for '08, which is underway now. The morning update on Wednesday dealt with a soldier, a fake, phony soldier by the name of Jesse MacBeth who never served in Iraq; he was never an Army Ranger. He was drummed out of the military in 44 days. He had his day in court; he never got the Purple Heart as he claimed, and he described all these war atrocities. He became a hero to the anti-war left. They love phony soldiers, and they prop 'em up. When it is demonstrated that they have been lying about things, then they just forget about it. There's no retraction; there's no apology; there's no, "Uh-oh, sorry." After doing that morning update on Wednesday, I got a phone call yesterday from somebody, we were talking about the troops, and this gentleman said something which you'll hear here in just a second, prompting me to reply "yeah, the phony soldiers."

That comment, "phony soldiers" was posted yesterday afternoon on the famous Media Matters website, which is where all leftists go to find out what I say. I have a website, and I have a radio program that reaches far more people than Media Matters could ever hope to, but the critics of this program never listen to this program. They never go to my website. All they do is read Media Matters and they get the lies and the out-of-context reports. They assume it's all true because they want it to be true, and then they start their campaigns. This has led to me being denounced on the floor of the House. Howard Dean has released a statement demanding I apologize; Jim Webb; John Kerry issued a statement, three Congress people went out on the floor of the House last night and said some things, and it's starting to blossom now in the Drive-By Media. So this is the anatomy of a smear, and this is how it starts. The same group is trying to get Bill O'Reilly into problems because of some innocent comments that he made about going to dinner at a restaurant in Harlem. So the illustration begins with just a sample report from MSNBC whose content is produced almost exclusively by Media Matters for America and MoveOn.org."

That's Rush...calling Jesse MacBeth a phony soldier. It's an outrage! Just google Jesse MacBeth and you will see what a shame this whole affair is.

14. Except he wasn't talking about Jesse MacBeth.
I've listened to the audioclip. Nowhere does he or his caller ever refer to a single phony soldier or refer to MacBeth. He says 'phony soldierS' as clear as day, and the context of what he was talking about doesn't change the interpretation at all.

It's a nice attempt for "post hoc" spin, but it's bullshit.

And, if you don't understand the outrage about O'Reilly's comments about "civilized" Blacks in Harlem, then it's clear why you're a troll.

Enjoy your stay! :hi:

28. Media Matters has him so nailed, transcript here:
This is FAR from the first time his cowardly cyst-ass has disrespected liberal soldiers! He's done it over and over again -- look at John Kerry! Transcript from another conversation re: Paul Hackett here:

http://mediamatters.org/items/200709270010

Besides that Rush is the one playing edited tape. Rush and O'Reilly go ballistic just because Media Matters exposes their crazy shit to a larger audience when their only goal is to fire up the ignorant nutbar freeper types.

7. our Government
is officially a sham. When we still have men and women needlessly being killed in Iraq -- and here in the States -- because of "our" Representative's inaction and unnecessary distractions eg. Corporations and Lobbyists, then it's time to pack it in, admit that "America: the Experiment in Democracy" has failed and start over.

I'm just sick and tired of it all -- including the Dems and their own supporters' hypocrisy -- today.

9. So, what does it really say? That that POS 'amendment' against MoveOn meant absolutely nothing.
Since the 'amendment' stated the Senate was unhappy if anybody 'insulted the integrity' of any member of the Armed Forces.

10. We get it
The problem is that the popular media either don't get it, or if they understand the fake outrage manufactured by the Right Wing Noise Machine, they just don't give a flying fuck about it. So when the Democrats support a fake outrage motion to condemn Move On, they really should know that a parallel resolution against a Republican mouthpiece who says something even more objectionable and less based in reality will not receive anything near the attention, and will certainly not garner even one Republican vote.

Is the picture clearing up for the Democrats, or are they satisfied to continue to vote for their caucus to eat shit sandwiches?

Edited on Mon Oct-01-07 04:28 PM by flpoljunkie
There is not recorded vote as yet, on the Senate website, but it takes an hour before they are published.

Salon war room report, about 4:30PM:

No word yet on how many Republicans have lined up to sign, but a couple of GOP presidential contenders have kind of, sort of gone on record criticizing Limbaugh. John McCain has said that Limbaugh should apologize if he said what he's said to have said, and a spokesman for Mitt Romney has said that Romney "would disagree with the negative characterization of those men and women who serve with honor and distinction in the United States military."
