huffington post: Congress extends abstinence only funding
Just in case you have any doubt about the wonderful work our congress is doing, or as some say, let the big issues wait because they're taking care of the other issues, here you have it:

Congress again has extended funding for a core abstinence-education program, sparking protests from sex-education advocates who want Democrats to pull the plug on such programs.

"Their actions defy logic and common sense," said James Wagoner, president of Advocates for Youth.

First, Congress funds what Mr. Wagoner called unproven abstinence programs. Then it commissions a study that shows they don't work, but lawmakers ignore those results and continue to fund the programs.

"Teens deserve better policies. We all deserve better leaders," said Mr. Wagoner, whose organization stresses rights, respect and responsibility in sex education.

Rep. James P. Moran, Virginia Democrat, said he supported "with frustration" the second three-month extension of the $50 million Title V abstinence-education program and several health programs that serve low-income families.

(Addendum edit: Not that I don't mind waiting, but most people don't want to so one way or the other, everybody'll get screwed at some point... especially if there's no cure.)

4. WTF is this? Paying people not to have sex? Or at least be wiling to
lie about not having sex?

What kind of Victorian middle ages BS is this?

If a study questions the effectiveness of a program, why continue to fund it?

It is kind of like killing people for peace and demockracey.

Oh. Wait.

5. What friggin good is congress?
I just logged on here and what do I find?

First of all a congressional resolution praising anal cyst pig boy limbaugh.

Then this.

I'm for an abstinence only congress. They should immediately abstain from fucking anything else up.

And Pelosi should abstain from being speaker any longer.

6. What a bunch of idiots. I can't wait until all their kids and grandkids
are pregnant!

You can be sure that a teenager who is in the heat of the moment is not thinking about abstinence.
Were these people never teenagers? Or did they go straight from being a baby to a grown up asshat?

7. Bottom line they are against Birth Control
"Abstinence Only Until Marriage" and "Faithfulness In Marriage". Such simple minds. It doesn't work for the unmarrieds and it also doesn't work for marrieds either.

Contraceptives DO work, contrary to what they are trying to teach our kids.

8. It should be called the "more unwanted pregnancies and STD cases" funding.
It's hard to beleive that the conservatives actually think that teens and young adults are going to stay virgins until marriage.

Take the 50 million and buy every young person birth control, condoms and give them free health checkups and sex ed counseling.
