Poll question: Would you believe a Democrat saying they would leave the country if Hillary were elected?
Edited on Thu Oct-11-07 03:23 PM by rinsd
Especially if they have stayed in this country during this abomination that is the Bush administration?

To move to say Canada which has a conservative PM or Mexico which has a conservative President?

2. Not really.
You have to make them logical though.

15. Especially when you consider that the person who said that
Baldwin "said" this went through a messy divorce with him not too long afterward ... and also released a damning tape in which anybody who followed what was going on would know he wasn't yelling at his kid ...

3. Wanting To Leave & Being Able To Are Completely Different Things
I strongly believe that a Clinton Part II MONARCHY is going to do nothing to improve this country.

Not sure it will make me leave, although I'd want to. I will continue to think lesser of this country, the "CLIQUE" that our government has become, and the lack of a true Democracy.

I'll continue to believe that the game is RIGGED, and any optimism I might have had, will be diminished.

And Yes, I think Al Gore is about the only potential candidate who could change my opinion.

29. Conservatives in Canada support government-run health care
which in and of itself means they're not a fraction as ugly as ours.

Me, I'll stay put, but saying living in Canada is necessarily worse than here because a conservative is in charge there is not persuasive.

5. No, but I hope the Republicans saying that follow through with their promise.
Even with them, it's all emotional and not serious. I forget the actor that promised something like that about Bush being elected, and I think he got a lot of grief for that declaration.

I think Johnny Depp said that about Bush and I believe he moved to France.

16. I thought if all those republicans that threaten to leave if Hillary is elected
actually do so, it'll be too nice here to think about leaving.

9. To some of us
The election of HRC would mean that there is no longer any chance for the restoration of our Constitution, return of democracy, or end of corporate ownership of our government. It would be the last straw. It would show that there is no alternative offered by the opposition party.

Some of us don't have as long to live as others. We might prefer to live out our remaining years in a democracy rather than a cleptocracy.

13. I'd believe that Democrat is an asshole, because...
if you look at the ENTIRE history of this country for over 200 years, things are not really all that bad, and will get much better under a Clinton administration. Perhaps they could be even better under someoneelse's, but they'll at least be OK with Hillary.

Many of us have been spoiled by the expectation of our idealistic visions coming true while forgetting that idealistic visions just don't ever come true.

And many are here just to pick a fight and stir shit.

Good god, man... are you serious?

This country is closer to becoming a de-facto dictatorship than ever before. And let's not forget about the economic crisis looming over our heads.

Are we in a civil war?

Are farmers going bankrupt?

Are labor activists being shot down in the streets?

Is a cavalry regiment galloping through a Bonus Soldiers tent city?

Are there any tent cities or Hoovervilles out there?

Are the Meat Trusts still poisoning people as much as they used to?

Is J. Edgar Hoover still spying on King and the FBI infiltrating the AFSC?

Are we killing off Indians and stealing their lands?

Please... this particular Imperial Presidency has overreached itself and will be out of office in a little over a year. It is perhaps the worst in our history but is far from a dictatorship.

If we ever actually have a dictatorship here, you'll know the difference.

25. ...
Are we in a civil war?
Almost!

Are farmers going bankrupt?
Uh, yeah!

Are labor activists being shot down in the streets?
Here and there, not an epidemic or anything. Oh, and with rubber bullets... so no ugly headlines! :D

Is a cavalry regiment galloping through a Bonus Soldiers tent city? Are there any tent cities or Hoovervilles out there?
(Grouping these two together cause same era...) Not yet... still hovering at 'recession'.

Are the Meat Trusts still poisoning people as much as they used to?
Nope!

Is J. Edgar Hoover still spying on King and the FBI infiltrating the AFSC?
Nope, but do you think the CIA isn't doing it to peace groups now? C'mon!

Are we killing off Indians and stealing their lands?
Uh, we finished that project.

Please... this particular Imperial Presidency has overreached itself and will be out of office in a little over a year. It is perhaps the worst in our history but is far from a dictatorship.
No, this particular group will not be out of office in a year. I don't know if you've noticed, but the hands pulling the levers don't belong to bush.

If we ever actually have a dictatorship here, you'll know the difference.
Aduh. They've got all the setup in place. We'll see how it goes!

Most of your post is historical stuff. I think it's pretty silly to point out a bunch of old problems, some of which were solved, and act as if those problems were worse than anything we're facing now. You obviously don't take the threat of corporations ruling us all very seriously. I do, and they're pretty much finished with that project, too.

Ah well.. perspective, right?

:hi:

18. I couldn't stay away...
I voted yes, despite the language in there, and this is why:

While I can't see many actually leaving if she's elected... I can see people being upset enough to say something like that.

And that said, there is also a great deal of difference between seeing no hope for improvement in one's own party and seeing no hope for improvement in the opposition party.

20. For every 1 that says they'll leave if she's elected, 10 will try and get in
When Hillary wins, you can expect the population of the US to increase drastically in the coming years with hordes of progressives and liberals from around the world knocking down our gates to make their home here in celebration of the Goddess of Peace replacing the fanatical tyrant Bush.

I know many people who considered that pivotal in this campaign. Anything can happen and no turn of events would surprise me.

maybe there are a few people out there so misinformed as to find Bush preferable to Clinton. There may even be a small percentage of them that are Democrats.
