The Perfect Solution .... Gore for President, Edwards to the Supreme Court, ....
Edited on Sat Oct-13-07 12:44 PM by Botany
.... Bill Clinton to the U.N., Richardson as Sec. of State, Clark as Sec of Defense,
and Stephanie Miller as White House Spokesperson/fart sound effectsperson.

Tony Scalia would drown in his own bile having Edwards on the bench.

Hillary can be Senate Majority Leader or she can bake some cookies

9. And what of the Edwards' decisions that he would apologize for later?
Or would no apology be needed, since he would not be running for office?

19. Perfect choice
My only concern with Obama right now is his lack of experiance. Two terms as VP makes up for that and grooms him for a Presidential run in 2016.

20. Good start but...
I'd try putting Hillary on the SCOTUS as well, her record as a lawyer is very good by all accounts. Bill's legendary charm would be a refreshing change at teh UN.

Also add:
- Obama as VP (makes up for his lack of experiance and positions him for a 2016 run perfectly)
- Kunich to Labour
- Fitz to AG

22. Agree up to a certain point
Just my opinion, I would prefer someone other than a professional ambulance chaser on the Supreme Court.

23. If you think John Edwards is "a professional ambulance chaser."
Then you do not know what good trial attorneys do .... they really
do help the little guy.

30. In my personal opinion
The best candidates for the Supreme Court are Judges with experience in Constitutional Law. Yes trial attorneys do help little guy. But, how broad and deep is their experience with Consitutional Law. Did Edwards plead cases before Federal courts where consititutional issues were at stake. I dont know.
As I said a private practice attorney is not my first choice for the Supreme Court.

31. Edwards is smart enough to read and understand the Constitution
That document is so well crafted and flexible enough that a good lawyer
should be able to applly it to case law.

BTW I think Edwards would be an outstanding Justice.

25. I think there's a better way to characterize Edwards than that...
Edited on Sun Oct-14-07 12:34 AM by calipendence
I actually do think that he'd fit in some better slots like Secretary of Labor or something like that.

I really think that the first nomination for SCOTUS that the right wing would have a VERY hard time trying to argue against for qualifications purposes would be Erwin Chemerinsky! He's a GREAT constitutional scholar and someone that thinks like all of us. I think he probably dreams of ways to take down corporate personhood. And I think he'd like no better a means like this to slap Cal Irvine back in the face for hiring him, then firing him, then rehiring him again as head of their law school for "politics"!

26. Notice we're down to one female on the SC now . . . doesn't get much mention --!!!
I'd like to see Anita Hill on the Supremes --

Actually, I think we need to impeach the Gang of 5 - for treason in election 2000 --

27. Not all the Gang of Five are still there.
Rehnquist is beyond the reach of any of us, and O'Connor, who appears to have had second thoughts when it was too late, is no longer on the Court. Can't impeach the two new guys for what they may have privately thought in 2000.

I'd say we ought to nominate new justices who'll drive those some of the righties up the wall. To the point where they resign 'cause their whole intellectual rationale is crumbling.

28. Well, I'll settle for Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas . . ..
but I think we still have a Gang of 5, if you consider Alito and Roberts --

Do you think it really is "rationale" or simply the urge to be on the side of power -- ????

29. I like that line up except
I would switch the Bill's around. Bill C would smooth the waters a bit more effectively around the globe I think. And Bill R needs to get the international experience first and then he could maybe do that the second term.

And of course - Obama as VP.
