Ladies and Gentlemen, the Italian Democratic Party is born!
Italy. The Primaries of the Democratic Party gave birth to the PD.

Lately...
...ve've been having comedians turned populist leaders - in Italy "populist" is meant in a negative sense;
...we've been having opposition leaders (rightists allied to Mr.Berlusconi) making jokes and getting sarcastic about the event;
...we've been having bloggers and left parties waiting the event with less curiosity than envy.

The event came at last, October, 14 2007: the Primary Election for the Democratic Party.

We elected a Secretary, Walter Veltroni, former DS (Left-Democratic), Major of Rome, jazz lover, writer and Kennedian, with a 75% share.

We elected the delegates, who will gather in Milan the next 27 October to organize the head of the new Party and tell everybody everywhere we're here.

But mostly, we had 3 million 500 thousands people who went to vote in the Primaries, who patiently waited for their moment on Sunday, and stayed joyfully in their cue.

3,5 millions people who drowned the sarcasm and the bitter ironies of comedians, leftists, rightists and the like.

No party in Europe was ever born with a popular vote at its root. It's just happily unprecedented!

I like to share this with you DUers Democratics!
So an happy ciao from Italy

2. Thank you formercia!
I know you're glad for me and for us all!
It took long to get to the Democratic Party - the biggest Party of the Left and a great catholic progressive Party decided to dissolve to create this new "creature"!

So i'm happy to share this with you!
ciao from Democratic Italy!
