Make no mistake. They WILL fund whatever idiot is chosen and they will turn up the slime machine as always. We can't forget that will happen and we can't afford not to throw back their bullshit right back at them.

1. A bunch of the $$$ that has gone to putting Hillary in place will
switch to Red, once she is the nominee.

4. Proof? Ha, Ha! In case you haven't noticed, that's not the way it works.
Of course, none of us can proove what the balance in her policies will be. I personally am known to say that it IS possible that the ones she is actually fooling are THEM and that if she gets in we MIGHT find that she actually does belong to the People.

But then there's always the problem that if people HAVE to vote for the lesser of two evils, someone they don't actually turst, instead of a candidate that they actully like and trust, they'll balance a Blue President with a Red Congress.

Proof isn't what you seem to assume it is.

Especially when so many people are PAID to think what they think and say what they say.

5. You Missed the Point. Repubs Want Hillary as the Nominee Because She'd LOSE
…which is why he said their money would switch to the Republican candidate after the primary.

8. Yup! That's the plan.
Make sure Hilliary wins the Democratic nomination so the anti-Clinton crazies will turn out on election day. Even Rupert has held fund raisers for her. Once the primaries are over the money will start flowing back to the GOP.

2. Yeah, but they won't have as much money to do it.
So they'll have to slime selectively.

Remember, Tom DeLay's money machine is out. Abramoff is out. Cunningham's dummy defense corporations funneling fed money to the Republican party are out. And the big donors are sitting on their hands. That's tens of millions of dollars they don't have.

While we were doing nothing, we seem to have done quite a bit.

Oh, and selective prosecution of Democrats now gets some attention.

Also, a HUGE number of their elections will NOT be incumbents, so they'll have to scramble hard to make their newbies known.

This election will look nothing like any recent ones so please don't apply anything that happened before as a sure thing.

6. The Mighty Slime Machine Gives The Repigs Most of their Advertising for FREE
The fact that Democrats are raising more money is nice, but it really doesn't matter.

7. Probably not.
People want their money to buy influence, and the republicans are so screwed in this election cycle, the people the republicans depend on will not be tossing that much their way this time.

In fact, it'll probably be going to the democrats because the folks that want influence are already making their bets.

10. I agree that the Repubs get tons of free TV & radio publicity
When the Gropinator was first running for governor, one of his old movies was on TV constantly. He went on Leno & got lots more free publicity. When the Dems asked for equal time on Leno, they were told the law didn't require that. And Leno didn't do the honorable thing and have a Dem on anyway. (Probably the network wouldn't let Leno do so even if Leno had wanted to.)

By the way, please don't make this a bash Dem thread.

11. Since there's barely an iota of unguarded optimism at DU, your warning is unnecessary.
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 01:05 PM by Perry Logan
As anyone here can observe, overconfidence is not exactly a big problem at DU.

On the contrary. Quote a good stat, make a positive prediction--and someone is sure to warn you against getting cocky. Just to make sure no one gets too happy, you understand...

Whew! That was close! I was looking at some good news, and was feeling kinda good for a second. But my friends at DU saved me.

12. Just to add, I wasn't commenting about Hillary
Though I have no doubts she would be a good fundraiser for them as Rudy is using her now for, but regardless of who the Democrat is, they will get $$$ next year, without a doubt. I hope that whoever we have, actually FIGHTS them. No letting the Smearvets stories fester. They need to be crushed quickly and in such a way to help our candidate. I realize that in some senses, this is early to bring up, but at the same time, we can’t forget the big picture.
