Biden eyes 'close fourth' in Iowa
BOSTON --Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden says he needs only a fourth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses to stay in the race, lowering expectations slightly from six weeks ago.

The Delaware senator, in town Tuesday to raise money and pick up endorsements from Massachusetts lawmakers, said he's under less pressure than better-financed opponents like Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards.

"If I finish in the top three or close fourth, I'm in the game coming into New Hampshire. If I don't, I'm gone," Biden said.

1. Hands off Dennis's spot, Joe
I know you had your eyes on his wife during the debate, but...

2. Dennis will not be in the top 5 in Iowa
He will be battling it out with Dodd and Gravel for sixth place.

5. I think all our predictions here will not pan out
This is quite unpredictable. Certainly the moneyed elite candidates (edwards, obama, clinton) will win, but we don't know the otder past that.

Biden's neck to neck with Kucinich right now in polling; we'll see.

7. Anything can happen
Doesn't seem that Kucinich has much of a campaign apparatus in place for Iowa though.

3. I have faith in this man. If more people were aware of him and able to listen
to his plans, his ratings would rise. What are we going to do to make that happen, Bidenites?

10. The front runners discount Biden as a threat
because he doesn't have the money or media exposure. If he was close on their heels, they would be very nervous. Their major fault could be underestimating him. It wouldn't be the first time in political history that a dark horse pulled up from the rear. Being they are so immersed in their own campaigns, they can't see the forest for the trees.

11. ...fourth?
Uh... well... at least he isn't setting his expectations too high...

IMHO, placing fourth or lower in Iowa will be the death knell for a campaign.

14. Third or fourth is very possible for Biden or Richardson
They both have a lot of appeal for down to earth types like Iowans, who tend to make up their minds much closer in.

15. I believe Biden does better than fourth in Iowa. A close third at the
worst, and first at best.

16. And the pundits will be shaking their heads in disbelief
as if they'd never seen such a thing before! "Who would have thought...." Well, actually a lot of people who are paying attention and have good memories.

17. Hi, Pat. Biden's on the upswing. The polling that was hovering around 1-2%
in late summertime has become a 6% showing.

Biden's crowds have been small and realtively uncovered by the MSM but it doesn't mean he isn't registering with Iowa voters.

From 1% to 6% in a couple months' time ain't bad, and I believe it will continue along that upward trend.

Joe Biden is climbing into this race, even if the mainstream network anchors don't know it yet.

18. Hi OC!
There is an online poll from the Iowa WCFcourier and Biden is leading everyone with 27%. I know its not a scientific poll, but it does indicate that people in Iowa know who he is.

You and I both know it is possible that he will continue to accelerate and give the MSM something to talk about.

19. Yep. It won't hurt the MSM one bit to dine at a plateful of their own
false words, omissions, and misrepresentations.
