From the best I can determine, http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d109:h.r.00676:">HR 676 has been in committee since february. Does anyone have any information on what is holding up this bill?

You think the HMOs are going to give up their profits.

5. ... and now I'm stuck in committee, where i'll sit here and wait...

While a few key Congressmen discuss
and debate
Whether they should let me be a law.
How I hope and pray that they will,
But today I am still just a bill.

6. Sadly, there is no Senate companion bill -- so I don't think it will go anywhere. n/t

7. Is it unprecedented?
that a bill go to the house floor without a competing senate version already introduced?

8. I don't know the answer to your question...but I think it will be hard to move a bill that does not

have Senate support.

jmo.

(I'm not trying to discourage people from pushing HR 676. If you read my past posts, I am a strong supporter of this bill. I'm just trying to present the reality of the situation.)

<edit to add> on another thread, I suggested that perhaps Bernie Sanders might be a good candidate for sponsoring a Senate bill. He co-sponsored HR 676 during the previous session when he was in the House of Representatives.
