Stephen Colbert appears to be serious about being on the ballot in SC
Colbert Consulted Parties Before Announcing Stunt

"Stephen Colbert -- who announced plans to run for the presidency, though only in South Carolina, on his Comedy Central show Tuesday night -- is serious enough about the stunt that his staff reached out to the state’s Democratic and Republican committees in advance of his declaration," the New York Times reports.

This...is the greatest thing ever. I am so jealous of South Carolinians right now.

1. According to last night's show:
To be on the Repug ballot he'll have to pony up about 35k. . To run as a Dem, It's like, 4500 or a bunch of signatures (I forget how many). .

7. Comedy central wont have to spend a dime....
On last nights show he was saying something like "where am I gonna get that kinda money?"
Then he held up an open bag of Dorito's and began to munch away.
Get it?

10. Ummm...Dont forget, he's a fake news guy on a fake news show.
I dont care what platform he runs on and who he takes money from.
If elected, it will show how fake our whole system has become.
Could you imagine losing to a fake office-seeker with a fake show about fake news
on a comedy television channel.
I think thats part of the point of him running in the first place.

over the years..and had less vacation time than boosh...

In fact I was thinking about all this campagning...THE HOUSE AND SENATE IS THE ONLY JOB YOU CAN TAKE TIME OFF FROM IN ORDER TO APPLY FOR ANOTHER JOB AND NOT GET FIRED!!!!

15. He did speculate that he might allow his corporate sponsors to attach ads to his suits
- like they do on race cars. He figures that will help with the NASCAR dads as wells as financing his campaign.

And, as my niece pointed out, it will certainly make it clear to the public who the candidate is owned by. We should really make all candidates do that.

6. I predict he'll win both parties' primaries. He's just that awesome.
It will culminate in him taking on Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) in 2010. Hey, a guy can dream!

12. How many DU'ers remember Pat Paulson for Persident?
Helped promote the Smothers Brothers program in the '70s...A cheap and easy way to promote a TV show and book, but never the less, a lot of fun.
