It's not the first time a politician has tried to score cheap political points by slandering the opposition.

...a political campaign before? You can't get your feelings hurt so easily.

38. Excuse me, Mr. Obama, Mr. Honesty, exactly when did Hillary
declare she'd won the nomination? "Hillary is not the first politician in Washington to declare 'mission accomplished' a little too soon."
-- Barack Obama on Leno, going for a two-fer when asked if Hillary was "a shoo-in."

I don't mind a politician calling an ant hill "a mountain" because politicians lie - that's what they do. But when you wrap yourself in the cloak of honesty and claim, "I'm not like those people,'" and then turn into one of them after you find yourself 25 points behind, that doesn't work.

So if you want to tell lies, that's OK with me because I want a Democratic president,But you might want to knock off that "honesty" bullshit because you're clumsy at it." BartCop.....could not have said it better.....

and the MEDIA has certainly all but said it.

Can you tell me if you think she should apologize to Obama for saying he should never take nukes off the table re: Iran when just today she said she would take them off the table re: Iran?

27. Why do all you Hillary supporters have your panties in a bunch?
You Hillary people are so damn sensitive. Obama referenced to what all the political pundits and mass media hawks have been saying, doing and promoting since day one of the Dem campaign, use the mass media and polling agencies to try and psychologically convince the american people that Hillary is the Democratic nominee for Prez. Even the slick ass Repubs are using this tactic (They want her so they can bleed her and defeat her. Their only hope is a run against against Hillary, not Obama). The media seems to be doing a good job because even Hillary believes their bullshit and on top of that, she has convinced herself of that too. Gullible! From day one, her cocky arrogant, overconfident demeanor ("I'm In It To Win It") has allowed her to totally forget that she has extremely stiff competition in this race for the White House and last night on Leno Obama called it right.

It's one thing to think that you have this sewed up but over confidence and underestimating your opponent is both dangerous and silly. This speaks of her inexperience in campaigning and overall judgment (Bill is her ace in the hole and people only support her because of him. Without him, she's easily 3d tier candidate)Hillary and her handlers are avoiding reality. Grassroots is the key to this Dem nomination and Obama has a virtually lock all over america (especially Iowa) in that arena. Not polls sport fans, grassroots. Obama is correct, "Mission Accomplished" is being declared by Hillary way too soon. This works in Obama's favor and he knows that. Political smarts and experience, keys to victory. No panic, Obama, No panic.

29. Don't worry
It all comes from corporate HQ. Read Hillaryis44, and watch how quick it winds up at this site. If they weren't worried, they wouldn't be so concerned about a quip on a late night TV program.

All it means is that they're worried that Obama and Edwards will beat her in Iowa, crushing the inevitability meme.

33. um, it is a joke being used in a political campaign to take a shot
at her. Surely you have seen this before. You see, HRC and her supportors have this attitude that comes across as "Get with it y'all, Hillary is the nominee. So some of us who feel that Ms. Clinton and many of her supporters are a tad too arrogant think it is funny word play. Thus the joke. Time for y'all to get some thicker skin.

36. David Brooks was correct that some Hillary supporters are just not that intelligent
I rarely agree with him if at all, but his column in the NYT a week or so back pretty much stated the obvious to me.

Part of being intelligent is having some semblance of a sense of humor. With what seems like a clear indication here on DU, it appears that not only is a sense of humor lacking but there are strong indications of a thin skin as well.

Clinton has peaked 80 days too early. That's the funny part.

41. I'm a Hillary supporter, and I don't think it's a big deal
There is a sense of inevitabilty (real or not) about her nomination. Obama is trying to derail that take a 'Mission Accomplished' swipe at the same time.

The 'Mission Accomplished' is an expression, not intended as a direct quote.
