Jindal wins Louisiana governor's race
"U.S. Rep. Bobby Jindal became the nation's youngest governor and the first nonwhite to hold post in Louisiana since Reconstruction when he carried more than half the vote to defeat 11 opponents."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071021/ap_po/louisiana_governor

This is sad but not a complete surprise. Blanco (a Democrat) is in the wrong party to get appropriate support from shrub. Jindal can be a lackey for shrub, and rub it in whenever he chooses.

I guess since New Orleans is whiter than ever, and white people heavily lean towards rethuglicans...
:eyes:

BTW, I'm white and the only time I ever voted for a rethuglican was for raygun over Carter...I was in 6th grade and we had a school election. Hopefully my poor choice will be forgiven.

1. i wonder if the thugs
will pressure Vitter to resign now that they have a Puke in office to replace him?

I forgive your vote - thank God the public school system taught you better after the 6th grade :hippie:

3. It appears this year is an election year
for their Governor. Here's a link I found on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana_Governor

This is the first time since 1980, and the 2nd time in the last 130 years someone ran as a rethuglican and won. The state (except for New Orleans) is a right-wing haven. Since a large majority of the people who moved out of New Orleans that haven't/won't return vote Democratic...it is dark times indeed for Louisiana.

4. It IS an election year for Louisiana
States are free to elect governors and other state offices on their own schedule. Most do it in the same even-numbered years as federal elections, but not all, Virginia is another state which comes to mind that elects its governor in an odd-numbered year.
