Yes.
Yes. You can tell members of Congress how you feel about your speaker's recent perfomance and they should listen to you since not only do you (and your grandchildren) pay their salaries, you elected them.

Yes. You can start working now to nominate and elect progressive opponents to your incumbent Representative.

Yes. You can work to elect progressives in the U.S. Senate. Even powerful and well-connected Senators like Joe Lieberman cannot take you for granted.

Yes. The majority of the country now agrees with Progressives and Liberals on the war, health care and the economy. That majority is not being represented by this congress.

Yes. Hillary Clinton will likely be a polarizing figure in the general election, and she faces real criticism of her record, including some of her husband's policies and her war votes.

Yes. The date of the first primary hasn't even been established, and no, Clinton is not inevitable.

Reality. I agree it's not a bad place to be. Too bad so few of our elected officials currently reside there.

7. Bravo
I was going to write something very similar. What a cynical post that other one was. It's hard to believe that there are people who really feel the way that poster apparently does.

8. About Joe Lieberman. Yes you can contact the DSCC and demand that they find a better candidate than
Ned Lamont to defeat Joe Lieberman. Hope they do. Can you ignore the fact that Lamont lost in the general? LIBERMAN WON THE SENATE tho' he couldn't have ignored you in the Primary. You need a winning candidate not just a candidate that can win the Dem Nom. But that's not 'til 2010 anyway I think.

12. Nominating isn't the problem. Getting them elected is.
We live in District 4 in California, represented by John Doolittle since 1993. It is one of the reddest districts in California.

Last election, our nominee was Lt. Col. Charlie Brown. He served 26 years in the Air Force (from Vietnam to Desert Storm), and has a son who served three tours in Iraq. He is considered a social moderate. Doolittle had 3 draft deferments and never served.

Charlie came within 3 points of winning. Despite FBI investigations and the connection with the Abramoff scandal, Doolittle was re-elected.

I doubt that anyone to the left of Charlie would have a chance in 2008. And there are many districts in the US where the majority of voters are conservative. Nominating a Democrat who isn't moderate or even conservative, will likely result in a Republican win.

I'd rather have a Democrat who votes with the Democrats half of the time than a Republican who'll never vote with the Democrats. If we want change, we need more Democrats in the Senate and the House. And we need a Democratic President.

If you want change, you have to start with the voter. Reality is that you have to have progressive voters to get progressive Representatives. Nominating isn't the problem. Getting them elected is.

16. 78% of voters in his district re-elected him in '06.
He got 76% of the vote in '04 and 67% of the vote in '02.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahm_Emanuel

A majority of the voters in his district apparently think he is doing a good job representing them.

If his district thinks there is a problem with him being nominated again, another Democrat should have challenged him, and let the voters decide in a primary election who they want on the ballot.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I actually agree with most of your points. I'd hope you understand that they don't negate my points in my "No" OP.
