With Hastert having announced his resignation
The campaigning by Jim Oberweis, a fat-cat multimillionaire head of Oberweis dairies is now in full swing.

His website says he is a "common sense conservative, pro-life, pro 2nd amendment, pro defense, pro securing the border"

The dems actually have a chance to take away this gerrymandered hasterdized district. John Laesch did fairly well against "da coach," all things considered, last November. Laesch has a grassroots campaign; refuses pac money. Oberweiss has already lent his campaign $625000 of his own money, no doubt will do more. Last fall it was kind of hard to stir up a lot of nationwide interest in this one local election with hastert being the shoo-in incumbent. Now Laesch can really use all the national press and attention he can get. It is a David and Goliath situation.
