Clinton is my choice...
I was split between Clinton and Obama for the longest time. But the fact that Obama hasn't yet denounced the homophobe that's singing for him, and Clinton is kicking everyone's ass.... I'm for Hillary!

I believe she's going to win both the nomination and the presidency. And god bless her - she'll be a great candidate and a great president.

1. What about the fact that Hillary hasn't denounced her IWR vote?
Edited on Mon Oct-22-07 11:55 PM by ih8thegop
Cowardice and pandering do NOT score points in my book.

BTW: Here's something from Obama: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=3634398

That's a new one!

30. She is demonstrating signs of being the usual crop of waffling Washington
politician. We don't need an opportunist, we don't need a Republican lite president, we need a Democratic leader.

That may be the dumbest thing I've heard yet

33. You are framing this matter to drive this subthread into a box canyon.
This isn't a question of "pandering," this is a question of explaining the record. At the very least, a person who wants to be president should explain the reason for their past votes. You see, if they don't explain or at least apologize, it indicates that they didn't see anything wrong with what they did. So when you vote for them, you're voting for that course of action.

So are you? Are you in support of the Iraq War?

39. She panders to the neocons....
...It's not that she doesn't do what we want--her votes perpetuate the
PNAC warmongering agenda.

She was there in the run-up to the Iraq war--talking about the same mushroom
clouds that Condi did. Hillary also said that there was a connection between
Saddam and Al Qaida . She said these things on the Senate floor.

Hillary knew better than anyone in that room--that Bush's war was a boondoggle.
The same neocons approached her husband, when he was President, and asked him
to go to war with Iraq. He refused. Hillary watched as this same cast of
characters--wrapped around the outrage of Sept 11--tried to go to war again.
She could have exposed them. She did not. She spewed their talking points on the
floor of the Senate.

Now she refuses to denounce her Iraq-war vote. We need an honest leader. Not
a PNAC boot licker. We also need someone who can admit mistakes.

She's also now touting war with IRAN. She recently voted to declare that Iran's
military is a terrorist organization. Hillary understands clearly that this gives
our warmongering, psychopathic pREsident carte blanche on Iran. HE can declare
war on them tomorrow and he doesn't have to ask the permission of anyone in
Congress. He can do whatever he wants to the Iranians. Hillary voted for that.

Now, she tells us that opening the door to war with Iran--and giving Junior unlimited
freedoms--was really about "diplomacy".

The candidate that you are hocking is an abomination.

you went to attack their (all to typical, as many people I know put loose instead of lose) mess up, and left out the "a" in your sentence.

I hope she doesn't get our nomination, but I will still vote for her over any GOPer, with hope that the GOP is as dead as Fred Thompson's lack of energy for wanting to be pres appears and she wins. There will be great trepidation by most of us on here that she will sell us out to the corporations, but I hope if she does become pres, she proves us wrong.

and her talking points are completely parallel with most of the neocons--
including Bush, Cheney, Condi and Richard Perle--you are treated as a
troublemaker.

Several months ago, DU was in complete agreement that Joe Lieberman was
a warmongering neocon. We were outraged at his votes and at his personal
statements that backed war with Iraq and ramped up war with IRAN.

Hillary's comments and Lieberman's comments are exactly the same. Their
votes on war and their rhetoric is identical.

We could criticize Lieberman, call him a disgrace and express outrage.

However, when Hillary says and does the same things---we're awful, horrible
people for daring to criticize her.

I find that completely outrageous and asinine.

26. Flat out fact?????????
Why is it that everyone who is against Hillary claims their "opinions" are facts? Do you think that something is a fact just because you say it is...or do you have a better crystal ball than Sylvia Browne?

We don't know the future but we know the past. Go back to 1999...the impeachment. Imagine the humiliation of hearing daily about your husbands blow job. A coward would have disappeared from public life never to be seen again. Hillary held her head high and went on to win the Senate. That is not a coward.

22. I'm very proud of Hillary's IWR vote
It took alot of courage, and it was the right thing to do.

I was afraid she'd backpedal and cave into to DHL pressure and an over-tendency to triangulate, but she has stood strong, which has given me even more respect for her. She shouldn't apologize in the least for that vote.

It has also reinforced my feelings about the competency of her campaign. She and her people know exactly what they're doing.

so this was news, but maybe if you're dead set on just the two of them, and Obama gets rid of Donnie McCloset from his functions, that O can win you to his side. I hope many of the Clinton backers on here will eventually see she is quite beloved by the corporations that have f'd over the country the past 7 years. That's disturbing.

And I think she'll be a great president if only for one thing - protecting the Supreme Court and prevent it from being totally hijacked by the religious right with nominations like Scalia, Thomas or Alito.

We're one judge away from that nightmare
