Poll question: If you could make ANYONE President, RIGHT NOW, without having to get them elected, who would it be?
Edited on Tue Oct-23-07 09:27 AM by IanDB1
Let's pretend for a moment that you found Aladdin's Magic Lamp, and the Jinni inside told you that you, personally, could choose who will be President for the next eight years, starting today.

If you could rub the lamp and make your wish come true, who would you want to be President right now?

19. That's a very good point. I don't think I would want to be President, though.
I'd be impeached within a week.

"Mister President, how do you feel about being misquoted as saying that the Republicans are a bunch of, quote, 'F-ing a-holes?'"

"I feel terrible. Simply terrible. I did not call the Republick Party a bunch of 'F-ing A-holes'. I called the Republickers a bunch of 'fucking assholes.' No, I don't care if we're broadcasting live. The FCC can go go suck it. Now, watch this drive."

17. Al Gore, if he would take it. If not, John Edwards.
Gore of course has the vision on environmental issues, but also has been an active VP in the executive branch and that experience is invaluable. But I would look for a woman for VP. We are well past the time for a woman to be VP.

28. Mass. Governor Deval Patrick
He stopped their odd trend of electing Republicans, proved to be a formidable coalition builder, and does not back down from a fight. When the bigots tried again to put marriage equality on the, he went to work to make sure that a few legislators who were on the fence did the right thing. Although I am a Marylander, Deval Patrick is an inspiration. I hope he does run for President after a couple of terms as Governor.

We're going to erect an "invisible fence" around Massachusetts and put a shock collar on Deval Patrick, so we can make sure he never leaves.

Deval Patrick stays HERE, dammit!

I'm a MA native, and I was living in Boston during the summer of 2006, when the Gov. race was really getting down to the 11th hour. I was definitely pulling for Patrick, and had some really good friends working on his campaign.

He's awesome. Congrats on being able to call him your own. :toast:

... but Al Gore is such a clear winner, I don't think there would be a point.

Other than maybe a poll, "Who Should Al Gore's Vice President Be?"

His press conferences would likely be quite a bit more literate than Dubya's. Also he knows his history. Also he's got a wicked sense of humor.

John Edwards is my primary/caucus candidate.

I also like Mario Cuomo for your poll idea. And Bill Moyers. And Bill Bradley. And Birch Bayh. And Barbara Boxer.

Would that Bella Abzug were with us still.
