Obama Didn't Just Lose the Nomination, His Senate Career Is Going To Be In Question
What he has just done has created such a backlash, I'd like to know what idiot is advising him. Either that or he truly has no clue what he is doing. A bigot will never be supported by the people, and Obama is going to learn the hard way.

33. Even if Obama won the nomination, he would loose against the GOP smear machine
I haven't seen anything in his demeanor or campaign or strategy that suggests otherwise.

2. No chance. Obama has a bright future
Edited on Tue Oct-23-07 01:44 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
He will not probably get the nomination, but he will be a major Dem player for years to come and may well be president someday.

5. He's going to have to seriously change course on a number of issues.
And frankly, his image needs work. He comes off as an amateur in a lot of ways. Though he has a lot of potential.

23. He does have a bright future.
And I'd love to see him as president. But it makes me wonder whether he'll get another shot after this time if he doesn't get the nomination.

36. No, I think he without a doubt has a bright career in the senate.
But i'm not sure whether he'd get another shot at the big job. too long in the senate is a curse.

8. Nah.....
This isn't that critical an issue for Blacks. If anything, he has probably pissed off a lot of his Gay supporters.

What he did lose was an excellent opportunity to create discussions beetween the Black and GLBT communities.

14. Hillary Clinton accepting money from Rupert Murdoch didn't hurt her
Why haven't the Clinton supporters who are so quick to attack Obama for appearing at an event with someone whose views they don't agree with gotten as angry with their own candidate for associating with Rupert Murdock - or any number of other people whose views may be different than theirs>

Rupert Murdoch has done more harm to gays, blacks, women and others than one gospel singer could ever do. So where was the outrage then?

This whole attack is bull, obviously ginned up by people who, for the most part, never supported Obama anyway. But if this is the standard that these people wish to apply to Obama, I strongly suggest they apply the same standard to their OWN candidate first, and then apply it to themselves (do YOU work with anyone whose views you don't like? If so, have you demanded that your employer fire them and, if not, did you quit?). That should keep everyone pretty busy right up until the election and leave the rest of us to address real issues.

As for Obama, he is no bigot. People who think that are delusional or will do anything to trash him because they support another candidate.

19. he wont lose his senate seat but i dont think he will get the nomination
not just because of the bigotry but because this sort of thing makes him look highly inexperienced.

america already had one bumbling idiot and i think people are beginning to believe in competence.

caveat: i do not believe obama is anything like bush, but i think this was a very naive and inexperience thing to do.

25. 1-2-3
Hi, Count. Obama is sponsoring a gospel music tour that includes a certain Donnie McClurkin in one of the three venues. McClurkin is a grammy award winning gospel singer who alleges being a success story in the "pray the gay away" sect of religiosity, and there are varying reports on his comments that range from inflammatory to benign. The LGBT community wants Obama to bounce McClurkin from that one venue, but Obama has come out with a statement saying while he disapproves of McClurkin's 'tude, no dice. Quick link to his statement: http://chuckcurrie.blogs.com/chuck_currie/2007/10/senator-barack-.html

Hope this helps.

I like it when people deliver facts, (rather than insults), to fellow Dems.

You summarized it well! It's not a good thing for Obama, but no reason to throw him under the bus. IMO

29. a bigot will never be supported by the people?
you mean the bigoted, american people who vote overwhelmingly in almost every state to ban gay marriage and then consistently elect representatives who consistently advocate gay marriage bans and constitutional amendments?

most of the american people don't really like gay people...that is a sad and ugly truth. the only backlash that's coming is from a small percentage of the democratic vote. in all honesty this isn't going to hurt obama at all, because most of america doesn't care. sad but true.
