Ben Nelson for Hillary's VP!!
Good Christ, how did I miss this? Did anyone post this on DU? It's a couple weeks old:

Columnist Puts Nelson On Clinton's VP List

POSTED: 4:08 pm CDT October 3, 2007
OMAHA, Neb. -- A syndicated columnist has put Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson on the short list of possible running mates for Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Nelson said he is flattered by the speculation, but said that he is focused on his job in the Senate.

The senator also said he can't disclose whether he's been approached about running as vice president, but said that if he were, he'd think about it.

Holy God, please tell me this isn't a possibility...Hillarites, what say you? Helmet-Head Nelson is a Chimpy-ass-licking POS.

2. If she does that....
after securing the nomination, she can kiss the presidency goodbye. NO self-respecting Democrat could pull a lever for that ticket. No way.

30. The man is a REPUBLICAN in every sense of the word, except for "Party Affiliation"
She would just be showing her true colors if she chose a DINO like that for a running-mate!

3. Well, technically it's a Democratic ticket...
I really don't see it being Nelson.

I'd still bet the bank on someone like Evan Bayh.

7. Yeah, I agree.
But he's got the "centrist" DLC credibility that would seem to fit that campaign.

sends our kids to their deaths, while the wholesome threesome stays back and fights the real danger of getting those evil video games banned. Bayh, Clinton and Lieberman are birds of a feather and thick as thieves.

she'd pick a Senator to be her running mate.

Why not just go for the gusto and trot out ol' Zell Miller? Even though he's got those strange fellas in the basement, he's still in a Democratic house...

16. He has a very connected Lt Gov. and he is a minister....
plus he served as a congressperson from a nominally republican district for years...

17. Doesn't sound impressive. I'd rather she go with a bigger-name
Veep, someone who already has a reputation and a personality and isn't just there to be a safe little inoffensive bureaucrat.

18. I'm just reporting what I have heard....
And just a question...

Why would she need someone with a reputation...

And I kind of resent that you think he is an inoffensive bureaucrat when he has served admirably in the US House and the Ohio Senate...

Strickland has been a no nonsense congressperson for almost 20 years...

He is well liked in Ohio and would most assuredly deliver the vote...

He is a savvy politician who cobbled together a winning team and made great strides in bringing Ohio closer to Blue...

And Lee Fisher, who would take over as gov., is competent and very well respected in the Jewish community outside of New York...

21. Why would you resent that? I asked you what was special about him--
your answer was essentially, "nothing", except that he is well-liked in Ohio and competent, and has a nice Lt Gov. There are a lot of well-liked, competent people around. If he didn't live in Ohio, would he get a second look? I don't know him at all, just wondering what the fuss is about. Glad you like him--I will take a closer look. I'm not excited by Bayh either--seems like the same sort of bland inoffensive bureaucrat-type centrist guy. I could never figure out why people thought he should run for Prez. I'd rather see someone like Clark, Obama, or Webb get the VP job, myself--would make for a more powerful, appealing ticket.

25. He's not DLC...
And he's a good man...

He took on Blackwell and kicked him back to Cincy where he belongs...

He can carry Ohio...

I'm not sure Bayh would...

I don't think that HRC, if it is HRC, has a strong enough ego to withstand someone as strong as Gore was to her Bill...

I think she needs to have someone like Strickland who isn't already in the limelight...

20. Not going to happen
He's from a state that won't flip - hence he's geographically useless plus he's another senator.

If you want to know who's on her short list, think purple state governors.

that little drawback but me, but then, he's my Senator, so I take him personally.
