Poll question: Hillary Clinton, at tomorrow's debate, will...
What's the most likely scenario from the ones on the list? By the way, if you feel tempted to say something stupid about Hillary or any other of the candidates, please do so somewhere else. This is political analysis, not an attack thread.

2. She'll try to look above it...She has set a strong precedent for doing so.
Edited on Mon Oct-29-07 09:19 PM by lvx35
Even in little ways...Take the pink jacket at that one debate with everybody else in black (pink being the "girl" color) or the choice to officially run as "Hillary" (on all the signs) rather than "Clinton" while the rest use last names. She wants to make everybody else look stiff and cold and distant and cruel while she is the warm loving mother of America.

I think to counter attack, Barack needs to stay loose and be a "brother" or "buddy" to America, and try to look more real, so Hillary gets painted as a facade, a fake whose really interested in some ulterior motives. He will win if he can look more real.

5. Why would Hillary get into it with anybody at this point?
She has a huge advantage. What would be the point of risking it?

12. Yeah, exactly. She needs to face a real threat before she will need to react.
Obama has a tough road, because Hillary has played a great game. She's set herself above, and leveraged her assets really well, including her gender. I get these letters from her (I've contributed to her campaign as well as other candidates) where you just feel like she's a family member, like your loving aunt or something. Nothing else like it from anybody else. Kucinich is like "Let's get excited for change!" and Hillary is like "Will you be at the family reunion?" and its really effective. To catch up, Obama needs to leverage his assets better, including his race. There's a positive sterotype of African Americans not being afraid to tell it like it is, to lay down the truth no matter "inapropriate" it may seem to the squeamish. He needs to play this up. He's established the trust of white American voters long ago, but he hasn't established closeness...I need to feel like he's my brother, my buddy who's gonna be down to earth and tell me the truth even when it hurts, the guy who will hang out with me at the bar and be there for me even when I find out my blond wife has been cheating on me with some corporate asshole. This is the guy he needs to be right now image wise.

9. It's the truth. The woman manages to say nothing while pretending to know everything.
I'm sorry, but I can't support her. I don't trust her one bit and I will not make apologies for it.

Listen, I live in one of the most liberal and democratic cities in the country. I have yet to meet anyone that actually supports Hillary for President. Ive talked to people over cocktails, at the office, and just last night at a dinner party, and not anyone I know, die hard democrats have thrown their support behind her. Frontrunner my ass. Corporate pick maybe. Political handler, definitely.

21. Well, I do live in Seattle and know Hillary supporters.
I would say, however, that those I know are pretty uniformly uncommitted but are coming around for Hillary. They are also people whose politics look the most like Kucinich's - but they are also realists.

11. One of the things I love and admire about Sen. Clinton
is that she focuses on the Republicans and how they've destroyed this country. Instead of going after her fellow Democrats, I think she will focus on the failure of the Republicans.

22. One of the things I love and admire about Sen. Clinton
is that she'd probably do better in FL in the General Election than either Obama or Edwards, because Florida is pretty heavy with NYNJCT retirees who would probably associate better with her than the other 2 candidates.

14. I'm thinking she'll do the Henny Youngman nightclub gig: one liners.

Her campaign has "leaked" some examples:
Teddy Kenndy was brought before a judge. The judge says, "You've been brought here for drinking." Teddy says, "Okay, let's get started."

Hey, speaking of unemployment, a bum came up to me saying, "I haven't eaten in two days!" I said, "You should force yourself!"

I have a lovely room and bath in the hotel. It's a little inconvenient, they're in two separate buildings!

Bill and I stayed in separate rooms last night so I could prepare for the debate. There was a girl knocking on Bill's hotel room door all night! Finally, I let her out.

Kucinich comes up to me and says, "This suit was made to order." I said, "Were you there at the time?"

And in honor of her recent birthday:
The Doctor says, "You'll live to be 60!" I said, "I AM 60!" "See, what did I tell you?"

Just Hil, Obama, and Edwards? i assumed you were going to end up with something comprehensive.

These things are getting so frequent that they aren't even reported
in the media over here any more. I'll have to start turning on CNN again.

26. Yeah, but the pundit this morning said this is "the critical" debate.
Not like the next who knows how many. Just give Kucinich equal time, that's all I ask. We certainly don't need any more Hillary vs Obama shows with a bunch of other guys standing around. Whatever, there oughta be a better way.
