Wow... Hillary just got pounded.
Everybody swarmed her tonight. Edwards, Obama, Dodd, everybody just started gnawing on her at every opportunity after the first 15 minutes or so, and she got whacked really hard. She did pivot out of the contradiction on licenses for illegals really well, but she took a LOT of fire.

Oh, and I LOVED Biden's bite about Giuliani--that there are only three things in a Giuliani sentence, a noun, a verb, and 9/11.

12. All four of them did do really well.
Edwards seemed to get repetitive with the theme of duality, but I understand why--he just needed to phrase it better. Obama had several really good answers, including the one about live off Earth, and having the courage to say a couple things others wouldn't about the practicality of licenses for illegals, and the Republicans' interest in fighting Hillary. Dodd was sharper than normal, and I really thought well of Biden. Biden's got a good head on his shoulders, and a sense of humor to boot, even if he does stick his foot in his mouth once in awhile.

I think that Kucinich struggled more than he has in the other debates I saw, and came off a little more shrill. Hillary seemed to perform about the same, but with more people taking the fight to her, she took the worst of it. I've never been much impressed with Richardson, and he didn't change that opinion.

4. Biden was great tonight.
He really had some excellent lines. Oh Jesus...someone is trying to drill a hole in my head with a jackhammer. Matthews must be on.

If the frontrunner changes, than THAT frontrunner will be attacked.

7. Out of the four debates I've watched this was the first time I felt she struggled.
I thought she clearly won the first two I watched, and did well in the third, but this one was tough.

9. Edwards and Obama tag-teamed Hillary and it was awesome.
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 10:19 PM by AtomicKitten

Wow. That was brutal. I thought Edwards kicked ass (sorry I can't vote for him because of that IWR thing). Obama was more sedate but did well and had some great moments. The old lions were really formidable. Kucinich deserves an appointment by whomever gets the nod to the new Department of Peace (plus he has the best healthcare plan), and Richardson was there.

13. You can see why Edwards was a successful trial lawyer
that's for sure. The man can marshall an argument in a heartbeat, be succinct and cutting and do it with a smile.

If anything, he was too good at calling out Hillary and should have passed on one or two opportunities just to tell us more about what he would do as President. He was like a dog with a bone, but I, for one, have to thank him for calling her out in the end in no uncertain terms. That was the perfect frame for the entire debate and he nailed it.

15. It was a tag-team effort that will probably benefit both of them.

Amazingly Obama came through the night unscathed. Nobody hit him.

He must be bulletproof.

10. Yep - everyone here loves the pile on.
Watch for her numbers to go up over the next 3-5 days.

This kind of thing pisses off the voters.

17. Yes - a smart woman who understands that issues are complex
and solutions are multi-faceted.

For instance, doesn't look like anyone else in the room knew that Spitzer is talking about three different kinds of identifications. I don't even think little Timmy knew.

It was just a bunch of boys having a circle jerk. The folks in the heartland totally get it.

18. Bureaucratic nightmare
That's exactly what the folks in the heartland will get. Along with her unwillingness to make a clear statement on it or anything else.

As she did with the drivers license thing ~ but her position on Iran didn't hold up.

25. If anything, tonight did a lot to ensure Hillary will NOT be the nominee.
People are tired of lies, politics as usual, and all the other bullshit that goes along with government.

We need change.

And that's not Hillary - she owes too many big corporations favors for their campaign donations. And make no mistake, they are going to expect consideration for that money.
