It takes gonadial glands to say we need to legalize Mary Jane.

1. Except he said decriminalize, not legalize.
Perhaps that's a distinction without a difference, though.

3. it pretty much means no prison time, which uncrowds the prisons a whole lot and
makes more room for people who truly belong in prison. If I recall, a huge percent of people in jail or prison are for minor drug offenses not related to any violent crime or major economic crime or say...war crimes against humanity in Iraq.

5. I could have sworn he said "legalize"...
:smoke:

Even if it was "decriminalize"... that's a big step.

6. Obama supports decriminalization of the "soft drugs."
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 11:37 PM by AtomicKitten

McLaughlin Group was talking about his plan a few weeks ago, and Mr. McL applauded Obama for it because he said his plan addresses the inequities in sentencing and the gross overcrowding in prisons.

Decriminalize pot, fine. Wait until you're elected before you drop the bomb.

10. Prison "industry," I have a problem with that.
The abuses in the commercial prison industry make Blackwater look like the Boy Scouts.

Let's just say you're a bit off mentally, really want to carry a gun and can't pass the test for the CIA, FBI or any reputable police agency: Where do you end up?

I've had several run-ins with local cops, US park police and Capitol police who shouldn't have been allowed to have weapons, so I can only imagine what it's like inside prison. There's a certain abusive mentality that searches out those positions.
