6. And yet
I've posted this about ten times now and those who are livid about Mckookle haven't said a word about these two. And people wonder why I doubt the sincerity of those attacking Obama.

I agree with you that there were a host of questions that would have been better than that UFO question, it was totally out of line. Dennis did great last nights and there were points that I thought I ought to just say fuck it and put up a Kucinich sign.

Appointing people as your state campaign chairs who actually voted for a gay marriage amendment ought to be a bigger deal than a gay gospel singer.

The fact that you'll ignore one and pound the hell out of the other proves that this isn't about any insult at all and is just pure politics.

Yes, I know other candidate supporters have chosen to use this opportunity to pile on Obama too, I've seen the same group do it before. I've chosen not to pick that particular battle at this point in time.

The fact that you can't even be bothered to explain why Obama spit in the face of the LGBT community and all Democrats who value civil rights speaks volumes to me about how "different" Obama is. More of the same, looks like to me.

24. Do her SC State Chairs get up on stage
At Hillary Campaign Events and denounce gay marriage?

That is the difference you don't seem to get.

I don't care if they are personally in favor of eating kittens, the problem is having them up on stage at a campaign event for Clinton telling everyone how great they taste with ketchup.

Because allowing this public endorsement gives the impression that Hillary agrees with it. And wants everyone to know.

I can have all sorts of people working for me, you wouldn't know who most of them are or what they believe in unless I PUT THEM ONSTAGE AT MY CAMPAIGN EVENT TO TALK ABOUT THEIR STANCE ON GAY ISSUES.

Then it makes a big difference because it gives the appearance that I AGREE with them.

I doubt very much Hillary will have them speaking at her events against gay marriage and how it should be in the constitution unless she suddenly decided that would be a good thing for her campaign. I think it would be a very stupid thing.

43. DO THEY SPEAK ABOUT THEIR OWN VOTE ON THIS ISSUE?
No? Then no point.

Frankly, you will find democrats ALL OVER THE SOUTH who are like this. Just like you will find PLENTY of Gospel singers who are bigoted against gays.

However, unless you absolutely NEED them, you really shouldn't get someone who is notoriously anti-gay, on a "war" against homosexuality, singing for Bush on and on, at your event yapping about being saved from the horror of being gay by God.

No one is innocent. I certainly never said they were. But Obama got hit with this because he has been courting people who already have this prejudice and instead of challenging them on it seems to be pandering to it.

Frankly, you should just stop carrying on about it because as I said downthread, the fact that it wasn't brought up in the debates means it isn't a talking point to the MSM.

"Senator Obama, you recently had a Gospel Tour as part of your campaign to reach out to faith based voters. One of the performers was criticized for his outspoken views against homosexuality and there were demands to have him removed. Given your support for gay rights, why did you insist on allowing him to preform and repeat his view that "God saved him from homosexuality"?

The fact that they didn't ask this question says to me that this really isn't an issue to the MSM because it's an easy one to start a little podium skirmish over.

I know it is important to the LGBT community but it doesn't seem to have made the MSM list of "Obama Problems".

Let's move on. Last night created more serious issues. I know that many of you want to deflect but no one's having it. You had your "few days of Obama bash" and it felt good, didn't it? Time to move into real world matters, not a musician's person oninion. Besides, if it mattered and the media cared, they would have made it an issue in the news and a question at last night's debate. Hell, the majority of the candidates don't even know who McClurkin is. So what's the point? You've already dragged it through the mud, get over it. Gay Rights as a whole is an issue, not some gospel concert with Donnie McClurkin. The reality is that your girl fucked up and fucked up bad. Deal with it.

You sound like Halle Berry in the movie "Monster's Ball": "Make Me Feel Good". Pathetic.

By the way, If you are having a hard time voicing your opinion(s) clearly without relying on a "link" to do your talking, You need to write more. It's not about quantity (1000+ posts) it's about having something to say. When you try and attack someone personally, it says a lot about your character and ethics. That dog don't hunt in these woods. Remember that.

49. I merely included the link so you could read the full-length article
It basically rehases the story as we all know it, so I didn't feel the need to quote from it.

I agree with you that personal attacks reveal a lot about someone's character and ethics. For example, Senator Obama attacking every LGBT person and anyone who supports equal rights for all by hiring a homophobe (after numerous objections had been raised to him) to headline his fundraiser. That said a lot to me about his character and ethics. Namely, he's willing to sell both down the river to pick up a few crucial votes in South Carolina. And, come to find out, he can't even do that (He dropped 11 points in the latest SC poll).

I don't use my post count total as a cudgel or think I'm any better than anyone else on this board because of my post count. But I will say that I think I know the "woods" around here a little better than you.

52. We have a difference of opinion about the issue that will not be resolved
As stated by many before. Gay rights is a national issue and defaming Donnie McClurkin is not the answer to your ills. A symptom but not the cure. It's bigger than him and yes it is being addressed nationally at the highest level Every politician on that stage last night understands that and will ensure it is addressed.

Politics is a game and I bet if you research each candidate you will find instances similar to Obama's position. He is not a gay basher. His view is no different that Hillary ,Edwards or Richardson. Does having a concert fundraiser make him any different than any of the others and their beliefs? Personal views aside, a Prez has to do what right for the country nationally for all groups. I feel that as Prez, Obama will do the right thing.

But DU didn't hire 5 open homophobes to do a gospel concert to raise money and win bigot votes for Obama. DU didn't have one of them do a 30-minute tirade against gay people on stage. DU didn't throw LGBT people under the bus for the sake of some cash and some votes. Obama did.

When someone offends the LGBT community, it's generally considered to be a relatively unimportant thing, unfortunately. Maybe if it snowballs up some more, they'll get asked about it later.
