One of my mother's friends, a former Bush supporter,
an elderly woman in a rural area of Texas, just told her that she hopes Hillary wins -- and she plans to vote for her.

She likes the idea of a woman being President.

:)

3. She didn't vote for the other Clinton. She didn't like him, but she likes Hillary.
A lot of people believed Nader when he said that Gore and Bush were "Tweedledee and Tweedledum." The people now that say HRC is like Bush are just as wrong.

4. "like" or "exactly like"?
because she is clearly *like* bush. Not *exactly* like, but much like.

they both represent the interests of corporatism and the oligarchy.

8. Yeah, and the Naderites thought Bush and Gore were alike.
Both representing the interests of corporatism and the oligarchy.

This is just the typical third party smear.

2. My sister and niece
former Bush supporters, are both horrified at the thought of Hillary being President. They're hoping for Edwards or Obama.

5. If i said i like the idea of a black man being president and i'm not voting for a...
white candidate i probably would be kicked off the DU and deservedly so. it seems there's a double standard when women say there voting for Clinton solely because she is a woman.

7. sadly
i have talked with several women who are "for" Senator Clinton, specifically because she is a woman. i agree, double standard.

11. Why? Because almost 100 years after women finally got the vote,
we might finally have a woman elected President?

That isn't something to take for granted. When it happens, it will be a major event.

13. and when a woman is running for President
whose strategies and policies i can agree with, that will definitely not be something i will take for granted.

hasn't happened yet, though. i'd love for Barbara Boxer to run, but i hear she has her eye on the gubernatorial seat.

10. I think it would be completely understandable if African-Americans were
excited about getting the opportunity to vote for a Black man for president.

because, in her words, "I hate men more than I hate Democrats."

19. I know, I didn't quite know how to respond to it, either.
But, hell, if there's something that makes her want to vote for a Democrat, I ain't gonna hold her back. :)

20. Me, neither!
I have heard that, thanks to the wonders of the secret ballot, there may be a number of usually Republican women who will give HRC a boost, if she is the nominee.

In New York, she got 75% of the women's vote -- and they obviously weren't all Democrats.
