Stop lying to yourself. You love Dennis Kucinich
Democratic primary voters, you agree with him about (almost) everything, and you know it.

By Rebecca Traister
http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2007/11/05/kucinich/index.html

But here is the truth: If you believe in universal, single-payer healthcare and that campaign finance and electronic voting are corrupt; if you hate the Patriot Act and believe it erodes civil rights; if you believe that gay people should have the same rights as straight people, that America should rejoin the Kyoto Protocol and take steps to halt global warming, that we should invest in alternative fuel sources, that our water and air need to be protected from pollution and overuse, that the government should reduce the amount of money it spends on war and instead work to improve the country's education system, and that going to war in Iraq was a terrible and tragic mistake, then you are that guy playing air guitar, and he is you.

Go Dennis! :woohoo:

1. I dont think anyone has said otherwise, but.....
Not for president and not for the Democratic nominee.

Dennis is there to move the discussion. Nothing more. He has as much chance as getting the nomination as Ron Paul does.

Let's be honest about this, he is way to liberal for the vast majority of Americans. Yes he has good talking points, but he is not going to be President.

2. Yea, I believe in that stuff
I just don't believe in his ability to get it done. One man cannot do this alone, he has to have support in congress, and he does not. When choosing a candidate, one has to think about the candidate's platform and the reality of him/her getting any of it actually done. I like Kucinich a lot, and I wish there were a lot more of our leaders like him so i could vote for him, but as of now, I cannot. I will keep an open mind and see how things go, and he could very well get my vote if I see some sort of movement on this impeachment thing. If he can get this thing done, he has got my vote. But, a lot of these candidates know how to say what we wanna hear, but have little chance of producing.

3. I hope he will not be the next president.
Kucinich is the only Democratic contender I would not vote for. His Dept of Peace proposal mixes a combination of naivete and stupidity that is unprecedented, IMO, in my lifetime for a presidential candidate.

Read the proposal on his site.

7. Department of Peace and Nonviolence?
Spending time trying to figure out how to deal with the rest of the world in a peaceful manner? Trying to get our citizens to figure out that there are ways to resolve conflict without killing each other?

Yeah...really stupid. :sarcasm:

Go Dennis! :woohoo:

17. Yeah, it IS really stupid to have a Dept of Peace.
Or are you also so lame that you think every possible positive thing should have its own "Department" in the Federal Government?

How about a Dept. of Not Getting Scalded by Hot Water?

How about a Department of Being on Time for Work?

The question isn't whether peace is a worthwhile objective. It's whether there ought to be bureaucrats looking over the same things that the Dept of Defense, the State Dept., NSA, CIA and myriad other bureaus, departments and agencies look over. If you want paralysis of government, your best bet would be to abolish government - second best way would be to create a Dept. of Peace.

As I suggested above, read Kucinich's site and the discussion of the Dept. of Peace. You'll either be laughing at his naivete, or howling mad that such a dope would run for president, IMO.

21. If you actually think that
all of the various war/defense departments (and yes, I include State in that) are inclined toward peaceful intentions, you haven't followed US history very well.

26. operative words:
if you have no substance or response, you attack the name, which is the first three letters of my first and last names.

Kucinich's operative word: stupid.

28. "trashy" because you disagree?
You still have no substantive response to my labeling Kucinich as stupid - only personal responses to me.

I'll assume you agree that you agree that DK's Department of Peace is a stupid idea, since you haven't responded to my characterization of it as such.

Edited on Mon Nov-05-07 11:18 PM by NobleCynic
he very well could win. But we are a vain nation, and he just isn't physically up to the task of running for president in the digital age. In the age of radio, he could of been a player.

But on the issues, yeah. Most of us should be supporting him.
