Inspired by Keith Olbermann's Special Comment tonight
about torture as used by the Bush administration, and the inevitable downfall of this regime because of decent, brave, and honest Americans, I wish to affirm once again:

I believe.

I believe that America is better and stronger than the criminals who have corrupted its institutions to impose fascist ideals where We the People better keep our mouths shut.

I believe that America, for all the faults and unresolved moral quandaries and shortcomings, is a virtuous ideal that the world needs, and that through this virtue, it will continue to spread the possibility of freedom from oppression and material poverty. Not through war, cynical double-talk, and corporate piracy disguised under the veneer of stolen slogans, but through generosity, example, and our ability to maintain our ideals even when we must repel parasitic ideologies that may gain temporary sway over our structures and institutions.

Thank you, Mr. Olbermann. Your courage, your eloquence, and the fact that you just plain give a damn about what America stands for is inspiring, and yet further evidence of the fact that we are right to believe.

3. "that would mean George Bush is going to prison"...very, very
inspiring, I'd say. There was a part in KO's comment that said * doing these things to cover up the fact that he was using torture to gain "great fiction" to use to control Americans by fear, well, that would not only mean the impeachment of GWB but the fact that he is going to prison. Loved that part!

KO is my hero, still, after all these years. God bless Daniel Levin (not sure of spelling ?) for his bravery and courage and fortitude.

So nice to see you Bleever. I believe in Bleever and all the Bleevers out there.

11. Telling the truth has become a shocking thing
requiring uncommon bravery. Fortunately, they haven't been able to dry up the market for good, honest journalism and commentary; if anything, it has grown.

Keep on believing, texpat.

5. As long as there are brave Americans like Keith Olbermann willing to speak out
against this sick and pathetic regime, I will still believe.

7. Thanks for doing that.
My hidden wish has been that Judge Mukasey, widely respected jurist with a dedication to the exacting application of the rule of law, would come to find that as the next A.G., he was suddenly being placed between political differences, but that instead of being "Democrat" vs. "Republican", he was being placed like a kind of bushing between "the rule of law" and what the Bush administration has illegally done, and that he might withdraw from consideration.

Such heroes are few and far between, but everyone's a candidate.

8. All of Keith's special comments are truly inspiring
He does all he can to push our country in the right direction.

An article in The Nation not too long ago suggested that he should become a prime time news anchor on one of the major news networks. That would be so great because his message would get out to a lot more people. It could change the course of history.

12. I wonder if the primetime news anchor paradigm
isn't already broken. But as to getting him heard by more people: I think it could change the course of history, and might already be doing so.

I wish we had a few more in Congress ~ it's a classic bully-in-the-schoolyard scenario with Keith one of the few brave enough to take on the class thugs while most of our representatives stand around shuffling their feet.

I can't help thinking that what has happened at the highest levels of government had already happened throughout society, from the schoolyard to the boardroom ~ otherwise it wouldn't have been possible.
