Will * Leave Office Being Touted As A Great President?.......

If you watch the news shows and read the newspapers/newsmags like a common American and not like the 'political wonks' we are here at DU - you are beginning the witnessing to the ramping up of the legacy of *.

In the last couple of days - we hear that the war is going so well that troops can start coming home and that the U.S. will be able to declare a victory in Iraq. Even the opinion polls are inching up into the favorable zone and we got 12 - 14 months for that to develop even more.

This peace conference - watching it like a common folk - makes * look good. He assembled 50 countries together and is pushing peace in Israel/Palestine and the Middle East. The deadline set is Dec 31, 2008 for this to happen. Hmmmm - coincidentally very close to the end of *'s term.

Heard just the other day that the Saudi's will raise the output of oil to ease the $ burden on the U.S.

The Pakastani issue with Pervez M. seems to be easing.

Will the dollar rebound? Will gas prices come down? Will the credit crisis be over by the end of his term?

Rove is out there saying it was the Dems that rushed * into Iraq. Like it or not - those not politically savvy will start believin'.

Is all this happening because we are in an election year or is this to shore up *'s legacy before he leaves office? Has this been the plan all along - to have things come together at the end of his 8 years or is he just lucky?

We here at DU have to watch all this and make sure that we point out the bending of the truths and the manipulation that will be going on for the next 12 - 14 months.

Already this a.m. on Morning Joe - Scarbourgh was calling out Bill Clinton for his comments about Iraq in Iowa - that he didn't support the Iraq war. J.S. is saying that the Dems are doing the revisions.

Are we witnessing now the movement to put GWB's head on Mt. Rushmore before its all over?

Again - look at it from the perspective of the common American that is not tuned into what we are here at DU. We know better.

7. There will be some who are convinced that Bush is a great

president because that is what his die-hard supporters want to think. I have noticed several of the news commentators and reporters mentioning that Bush is anxious to build a legacy before he leaves office, so not everyone is fooled by his sudden interest and apparent success.

8. I was wondering the same

just yesterday. I heard this glowing report on my local news about Bush** and the peace conference. Normally my local news pretty much just runs tape from elsewhere on national events but this was accompanied by smiles and happy comments and I thought WTF? I thought he said his usual stupid stuff, stuff that is always the opposite of what he does and then left. This makes him a peace maker? Then I thought about Reagan and how awful he was and how glorified he has been and started to worry about how Bush** will be revered. I think it is doing both things. It will make him look good to those who pay little attention and it is also for the election.

I almost have a stroke when I hear people go on about Saint Ronnie but I don't think I can live through adulation of Bush**. We can point out everything to them but once this starts there will be no stopping the love. Ever tried to talk someone down from Ronnie worship? :puke:
