I find it kinda funny that someone makes this claim ....

Tomorrow it will be a Hillary Board ..... The day after ? ... Perhaps Kucinich will get his moment in the DU sun ..... without rhyme or reason ...

This is DU .... it is no specific candidate's personal forum ....

6. I don't think of it as a zero sum game.
I like Biden. I think he has a good effect upon the discourse. Think of the thousands of people whom he has affected. Think of the difference in the spectrum of a given issue. The whole political environment is different from what it would have been if he had not run for the nomination.

Something is always more than nothing and something strong is a lot more than nothing and that is very important at this particular point in our history.

Have you noticed that almost every thread pumping up Edwards or Obama comes with pretty pictures of their grand and glorious candidates.

It's all a bit Leni Riefenstahl at times.

BTW, I view DU as cyclical in terms of more people on here supporting various candidates.

As an Obama supporter I'm glad to see things turning his way, but I can empathize with you. I like Biden too. (He switches in my 2nd spot with Richardson)

Plus, one important thing I've learned, when someone who supports someone other than Obama is trying to "rile" me up, I just ignore it.

As he's my second choice, I've been paying attention. I find it a bit odd, though, that all of his most fervent supporters have lower-case letters, along with a couple of numbers, for their usernames. Weird.

Take action if the status quo bothers you. Or is it easier to just expect things to go the way you personally think they should?

Expecting everyone else NOT to is sorta silly. If you don't approve of what others post, fine. To expect that they will only post what you do approve of is ... well, censorship.

37. "Really a sad statement for Democrats"
I couldn't agree more.

If I was ever surfing the internet and came across this place for the first time, I'd think that I had just stumlbed onto "The Self-Defeatest Underground", or "The Anti-Clintons Underground", or even "The Anti-Kucinich Underground" but certainly not any Democratic forum. There is more venomous slander spewn on this forum towards the Clintons, and quite often Kucinich, than what one might hear on most rightwing hate-radio shows.

You are right. What "a sad statement for Democrats" it is.

Glad to give your thread its first recommendation...

38. It's A Shame
For so long, Biden supporters have held their collective tongues gaining the hard earned reputation for being civil regardless of the shit thrown at them over and over again. We held off trying our best to keep the discourse at an adult level. I can hardly blame 1corona4u for finally saying THAT'S ENOUGH. I too have been tempted to jump on this board when some vicious venom filled child has seen fit to try and destroy everyone but their particular choice in some fanatical myopic obsession.

Sad, how very sad. I wish 1corona4u had not fallen off the wagon...but I can hardly blame him. You can only ignore such behavior for so long.

39. I don't think we should ignore the hate-mongers amongst us.
No matter their stripe, there are ways to bring pressure to bear on them without becoming one of them. Sorry, I can't be more specific, but I think the principles are dialectical and Socratic (and this is one of the main reasons I hang around this board). And one of the key things to remember about a dialectic is that it identifies and exposes false dichotomies (often by means of Socratic analysis) and processes/synthesizes that which is valid in both "sides" of any issue. The problem with doing this is that one needs to be Free to do it, and there's way toooooo much that runs on money in politics. Almost Everyone, directly and in-directly involved in the process, is bought, sold, and paid for by the way in which campaigns are financed.

Mostly, I have been avoidant. Trying to keep on "my game" - but - ultimately that DOES result in the discourse , no matter how well it develops otherwise, getting distilled into those things about which it is MOST forbidden to speak, the hard boiled, deep roots of our essential differences. I'm still trying to talk about that stuff without making it more "hard boiled", but we're probably running out of time, thank goodness for those who make it acceptable to inform one's self and others about our VERY real problems.

I think Huckabee is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. It is FORBIDDEN to call people to account for their ****desire**** to kill other people in the name of ________________, hence this great moral leader, Huckabee, made a JOKE out of Capitol Punishment on tv and the audience laughed and applauded. It was ***disgusting*** and NO ONE amongst "us", and that includes our own candidates, will call them to account for their Blasphemy, because that's something else that it is forbidden to talk about.

45. P.S. I'm just realizing that what I just said means that *Sometimes*
it IS a zero sum game.

And that's probably when there is no "something" without which there would be/is nothing, when the forbidden truth goes un-said, when all we EVER hear is synonymous echoes and re-iterations of idolatrous fragmentation . . . . Hey! Maybe that's what Genesis is about, the something without which there is nothing.

I guess that makes timing real important, doesn't it? So HOW does one know what time it is?
