. . .it fits right into their strategy. They might be distressed over the reaction, but I don't for one minute believe that Hillary or her campaign weren't behind Shaheen's comments. As matter of fact her if they weren't, her campaign has a big problem with discipline because someone like Shaheen is experienced enough to know you don't say something like that without the approval from on high.

-snip-
But the off-camera discussion continued to swirl around Clinton and Obama. Clinton officials said she was personally distressed by the incident and had sought out Obama on the tarmac at Washington's Reagan National Airport before they flew to Iowa for the debate. Though the senators' interactions have been frosty since the start of the campaign nearly a year ago, Clinton wanted, her aides said, to make it clear that she had not approved Shaheen's approach.

We all know she approved, she just thought the reaction would be different. HA HA!

6. HRC and Edwards have both released fund-raiser emails after supposed attacks
This is common practice and not isolated to Obama's campaign.

4. 3 separate source discussed the problems in her campaign
one source (my local news radio) claimed that Bill Clinton was the driving force to push the coChair for new hampshire out and that he has his sights set on Penn.
But Hillary totally trusts Penn and will keep him on.
WaPo had an article, and the third may have been a rewrite of the WaPo article.

8. The Huffington Post's Edsall called it before it happened
-snip-The Clinton campaign email did not spell out Obama's "shortcomings, inconsistencies or misstatements," but other Democratic activists have quietly received messages from Clinton allies pointing in the likely direction. Those messages provided a link to an Iowa Independent story by Douglas Burns headlined "The Politics Of Obama's Past Cocaine Use."

Burns' article on Obama posed a question that Clinton has been unwilling to raise herself and that has received little attention during the Democratic primary battles: If Barack Obama becomes the nominee, will the GOP be able to turn his acknowledged cocaine use into a debilitating issue.

12. Not buying the way you are attempting the frame the argument. . .
. . .it was a reaction to Burns piece which led the Clinton campaign to attempt to bring up Obama's drug use.

5. Yep, it was a straight down the line dirty trick... I hope it blows up in her face
Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 08:25 AM by rAVES
Its manipulative and hypocritical, not to mention slimy..
Anyone who buys the line that they are sorry about it is being either not being honest or incredibly naive.
It has a Rovian touch about it, playing the media like a fiddle whilst trying to manipulate the blowback with useless apologies.

10. Go read this: "If nominated, will the GOP make an issue of Obama's admitted cocaine use?"
Poll question: If nominated, will the GOP make an issue of Obama's admitted cocaine use?

14. Let's get this straight...you work in her campaign and know exactly
what's going on. Maybe you should tell them over there they'd want to know.

It certainly is odd that all the Hillary haters all over the country know everything there is to know about what her campaign thinks, does and will do....hally lou jah amen....what a bunch of psychics.

15. So, damned if she did and damned if she didn't.
Damn that Hillary!

Personally, I'm always happy when drug users reform. Of course, seven years of George does tend to make one perhaps a trifle more wary of such claims of reformation.

As for "experimentation," I'm sure many DUers identify with that and forgive it as a mere nothing. Those of us who looked down on "experimenters" as being weak-willed, sheeplike followers unable to resist social pressure might consider it indicative of the tiniest character flaw. You know, the way non-smokers look at smokers. Oh wait. Obama smokes.
