Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 08:12 PM by maximusveritas
If they don't, the Republican will be sure to make something up (Swift Boats). Let's focus on the candidate who would be be best for the country, not on who's the most "electable".

36. True, but it is easy to defend our candidate
if he is in the right and the information is there. Even with the media being complict it became clear to all but the right wing fringe that the Navy did give Senator Kerry his medals. As a supporter, I found plenty of proof to defend him with.

I will not lie to defend anyone - there are somethings here I can defend HRC on - others I can try to change the topic. I am very unsuccessful lying - which may lead me not to phone bank or canvas if HRC is the candidate and I will definitely not defend her to friends and family.

Here I'm not in conflict on electability and who is best - I think HRC is neither.

14. Regardless of who the Dem candidate is.....
I will do whatever it takes to support and protect them to ensure that they end up in the White House. They will all be smeared anyway and Clinton is no different. They smeared John Kerry and he was a war hero with a clean record. She definitely has an advantage over them all though. She has had years of practice deflecting their assaults. We need to focus on kicking the Republicans asses and take back our government, our democracy, our country. Case closed.

It was a sad story that the only thng they could REALLY find was a despicable sex adventure of her husbands that really turned out to be MUCH LESS of a problem for America than their President Shrub who had sent thousands to die, illegally spy on AMERICANS, destroy the constitution, ignore the rule of law, and so many more things, I don't have the time to list them all!

THAT should give them a bit to think about!

32. You're right, I did miss the point.
If Obama should be the nominee, the pukes need not say one god damn thing about him. He can't win. Period. I confess I don't pay any attention to his campaign or what he says. It would be a waste of time. In my opinion, only one Democratic candidate has a fair chance of winning in November of 2008. The beltway whores are beside themselves, but fuck 'em. I been around long enough to know the difference between right and wrong. I don't need some millionaire puke reporter telling the sun will come up in the east tomorrow, or maybe that was the west. They have been drinking their own koolaide for so long, I don't think they are fuckin' sure anymore.

38. Well, add this to the OP's list....
The Reps plant a story about Bill Clinton having another affair. It can be true, partly true, or totally false....no matter. Fact of the matter, it would be believable. And it would cost Hillary several points in the election.

Sad thing is that it would ALSO cost other Democratic candidates several points in their elections.

Of course, the list you gave is quite lengthy and I am sure ALL will be brought up.

But can anyone hear doubt that Bill's penis will become an issue? And if Hillary doesn't smack him down, they will say there you go again enabling him! And if she does smack him down, at the very least it would stall the momentum of her campaign away from the issues she would want to be talking about.

Some things are predicable.

39. All have been investigated and nothing there. Americans will
reject the republicans as they did in 98 99 by telling them not to impeach President Clinton.

But in this room many in here remind me of the rabid right wing.If this is not you, then why is it that folks in here keep on bringing this crap out. You supporters of obama have a fever....This fever reminds me of the GOP's impeachment fever back in 1998. Bill's impeachment was like a criminal assault and battery. NOTHING was going to stop that impeachment because they had the fever.
The GOP was "caught up" with impeachment fever - that's all they could see or hear. Bill's approval rating was in the 70s - and voters clearly didn't want him to be impeached, but like the criminal who can't stop until he assaults enough, it was GOING to happen.

Hell, the GOP lost seats in November of 1998 - but that didn't matter to them. NOTHING was going to stop that impeachment because they had the fever. They lived and breathed impeachment the way some people are now living and breathing "Stop her!"

IF YOU,LIKE ANOTHER CANDIDATE BETTER THAN HRC,VOTE FOR HIM OR HER...... But when I read some of the hate directed towards HRC, you got the fever and that tells me something.

Democrats need to worry because your "Stop her!" fever is turning you into what the GOP was in 1998 and if she loses then we all lose in 08.

Ben David

40. Who cares what we do? It's what SHE does.
If she acts as wimpy as the previous two candidates, in the face of Republican fire, she will lose.

If she fights back intelligently, she might win.

And that's the question to ask every one of the Democratic candidates; if you win and you are attacked, will you wear Pink Tutus? Or will you stand your ground and return fire?

41. Well, Obama's reaction seems to be working...it isn't hurting him in the polls at all
Obama played it smart from the start. He disclosed the stuff about his youthful cocaine use a long time ago. So he did not have to explain it now. It is already old news, and it is the Johnny Come Latelys that look like opportunists because all this time they said nothing, and now just before the caucuses they bring up what Obama said years ago. I'd say this is a lot more effective than not saying anything about it, then when confronted saying I didn't inhale....

Impeachment and trying to get rid of or convict a pResident is not popular in America.
It looks like the same applies to presidential candidates. Americans don't like vindictive politics or so it seems. (Numerous threads about that everyday on DU)

BTW, where "is" Ken Starr these days?

Not to mention a few others who tried to create crimes from nothing.

Also, everyone has a past.

44. All that stuff gives Hillary a big advantage
Everybody already know the GOP lies about the Clintons compulsively. Nobody but the media listens to them anymore. Bringing that stuff up will likely create a backlash that will benefit Hillary, just like it benefited Bill in the 90s.

Even the GOP knows its all lies but they say it anyway. I noticed that books that smear Hillary don't sell as well as the used to. Even the GOP is getting tired of it after 15 years.

Wag-the-dog-gate? Oh please, let them bring that one up.
