Kucinich and Edwards supporters: new way to help campaigns through PDA
Presidential campaign teams are forming!

Thank you for voting in PDA's Presidential Straw Poll. The two progressive candidates Dennis Kucinich (41%) and John Edwards (26%) combined for over two thirds of the total vote.

As a result of our poll, PDA received some excellent attention from the media, including this article by John Nichols of The Nation, who noted, “PDA's a solid group and their poll was run with great care to make sure that only members voted. As such, it's a good reflection on where particularly committed anti-war activists within the party are leaning. It's also the product of an impressive process.”

In order to facilitate organizing for the presidential campaigns among our chapters, PDA will be sponsoring conference calls for the candidates. Please note the following opportunities for your candidate:

Dennis Kucinich:
Next Tuesday, December 18, you'll have a chance to hear directly from Steve Cobble, Political Director for the Kucinich campaign. Steve will be joining us for a conference call and informing supporters of what they can do to help Dennis in the New Hampshire primary. If you are interested in participating, contact the campaign via PDA at this address: Kucinich {at} pdamerica.org

For more on the campaign and Kucinich's platform, read Steve's article.

John Edwards:

Progressive stalwarts Wayne Williams and Brad Parker are organizing PDA members to help with John Edwards' campaign in Iowa, and will soon be holding a conference call for this effort. If you are interested in helping the campaign and wish to take part in this call, contact Edwards (at) pdamerica.org

PDA also wishes to serve those members who are supporting other Democratic presidential candidates; however, there are currently no other members organizing for these campaigns within PDA. If you are interested in initiating or aiding any such effort, please contact tim {at} pdamerica.org or laura {at} pdamerica.org

You can find links to the web sites of all the candidates here. And remember, no matter which candidate you support, we all support the progressive agenda--please use it to inform your campaign work.

Yours in the movement,

Tim Carpenter
PDA National Director
