Well, at least two of our candidates get it.
This bickering between candidates, and ahem...the wonderful members of this board, are non-productive, and hurt all of the candidates, and the Party in general. (IMHO and I'm sticking with it.)

Richardson calls on rivals to run cheery campaigns
By Philip Elliott, Associated Press Writer | December 15, 2007

MEREDITH, N.H. --Presidential hopeful Bill Richardson on Saturday decried the "nasty little fights" between his Democratic rivals and said the scuffles distract from serious issues in the campaign.

In recent weeks, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's supporters have spread rumors against Barack Obama and raised questions about his teenage drug use and his faith. Those discussions only hurt the Democrats and could have been avoided if they had joined him in a promise to run a positive-only campaign, Richardson said.

"Almost a year ago, I came out and said all the Democratic hopefuls need to sign a pledge that we won't attack each other. Only Joe Biden signed it with me," Richardson said to laughter.

Richardson said the infighting hurts the party in the November general election and undermines their policy proposals.

1. I applaud the sentiment, but it doesn't really hurt the party in November.
There's been petty bickering for ever. It doesn't feel nice when it happens to your candidate, but I can't think of a single instance when a snipe in the primaries ever hurt a candidate in the general. If anything, it enures the voters to that particular thread of attack and market tests a candidate's ability to counterpunch.

I don't approve of such tactics, but it's hard to argue against their Darwinian utility.

3. Easy to say from his position.
He's jockeying for a Hillary VP spot.
