Romney says that Huckabee's calling Bush arrogant is "over the line" and he needs to apologize
Romney Tells Huckabee: Apologize To Bush

December 16, 2007 11:44 AM

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/12/16/romney-tells-huckabee-ap_n_76990.html

During an appearance on Meet the Press today, Mitt Romney took another swipe at his chief primary opponent, Mike Huckabee, calling on him to apologize to President Bush for describing the current U.S. foreign policy as "arrogant bunker mentality."

"That's an insult to the president and Mike Huckabee should apologize to the president," Romney said when read Huckabee's statement by moderator Tim Russert. "To say that the president is arrogant and has a bunker mentality, that's when he went over the line."

The attack underscores a two-prong approach for the former Massachusetts Governor. While appealing to more hawkish, neoconservative Republican voters, Romney is also seeking to reinforce that Huckabee is inexperienced and weak on foreign policy.

On Friday, Huckabee attempted to address concerns that he lacked knowledge and gravitas in international affairs by penning a lengthy article detailing his world views for the journal Foreign Affairs. In the piece, the former Arkansas Governor offered relatively non-specific takes on Iraq, Iran, and other foreign policy hotspots. But the most noteworthy takes were criticisms of President Bush.

16. Yeah, right.."apologize to
the monkey's ass". romney seems a lit-tle bit tone deaf in trying to dredge up the sympathy vote for the worst president(sic) in the history of the world.

What's the punishment if you went beyond arrogant? I'm afraid I have a lonnnnng list of adjectives that would quaify me.

I'll go to the corner of the room, sit on my 3-legged stool and practice my apologies.

bid to appeal to Indies and Dems (totally bogus, because last spring I heard him praise Chimpy to the heavens), and Mittens makes a calculated move to defend Chimpy because he knows that the thirty-percenters are GOP primary voters. Advantage: Mittens, until he becomes the nominee--then we can tie Chimpy around Mitten's neck like a dead chicken.

14. How can anyone take any of these Repug. candidates seriously.
Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 02:17 PM by glowing
Its like a room full of freaking clowns. The issues and the questions they field are so off track... they have nothing to do with the real concerns of Americans... Its like they're still making a play in the outfield, and the rest of the team has already left the field for the dugout...

Then you have the dems who are all speaking about the issues, and people have a real ability to choose what path they think will be best for America.. What theme and shape we want to take this country.. This is a defining epic time in this country.. the Dems get it... I don't know WTF the repugs are doing?

15. The GOPukes don't care who their candidate is
The point is to beat the Dems no matter what it takes. That's why the "exclusionary" voter lists will be used to tie up and muddy the returns in Dem districts, the "touch Screens" will be jiggered at every possible opportunity, and the MSM will lie through their teeth up until the last vote is "lost", "misread" or simply tossed into the trash.

This will be the most dishonest election in history and all of us have to pay the closest possible attetion to what goes on. Every DU'er who can should volunteer to work as a poll watcher or some other official in November 2008 and KEEP THEIR EYES OPEN and their cellphone cameras at the ready.

Just sayin...

23. I think its just as important in the primaries as well... I have my suspicions
that certain candidates are preferred by corporate Amerika than others. And 2 states have lost their delegates. It will be an interesting year to say the least. Florida has a lot of delgates... it could help to make or break the nominee. AND Senator Nelson and other various people's of distaste are behind this coup. Nelson is still sending out e-mails stating that we will have a voice at the convention and we will vote. Please go vote for a huge turnout and sign up to be a delegate. He thinks he's going to twist the parties hand by a huge voter turnout, and yet Florida has lost in the court battles thus far. I am very wary of Nelson, as many down here are. People are not happy with him, but the alt. was crazy lady Katherine Harris--he didn't have to debate, he didn't give up some of his treasury to help other dems that were in tight races with repugs. He touts a Moderate line... I think his actions and voting record have spoken volumes. There was an independent candidate running and would have been a marvelous improvement and would be a voice we'd love to hear... but of course, without huge party support or the funds a third party Independent is already done before they even begin... and you can't push anyone but Dems on this site (which is fine its Dem underground and I know the rules)... so, he was in the lesser of the circles... but his policy was spot on... I wish he had run as a Progressive Democrat against Nelson in the primaries.

Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 03:27 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
Arrogant seems to be about the mildest. That this gets media attention and a rise out of Romney shows just how lock-step the Republicans are, especially considering the state of Bush's poll numbers.

22. Huckabee got that one right, and Romney is full of shit. That one will end Romney's chances
of winning in a general election if he gets that far now. Prior to this idiotic comment by Romney, I thought he'd be a sure bet for the Republican nod. He might have just blown it!

25. Bush family hedges its bets for 2008

Bush family hedges its bets for 2008
By Alexander Bolton
March 26, 2007

Much of Jeb’s inner circle has picked Romney. The list includes Sally Bradshaw, who served as Gov. Bush’s campaign manager in 1994 and 1998 and as his first gubernatorial chief of staff; Ann Herberger, who was the governor’s campaign finance director; and Mandy Fletcher, who recently headed Bush’s think tank, Foundation for Florida’s Future, and worked on his reelection. In addition, Alan Philp, Bush’s former policy director, is coordinating policy and issues for Romney.

Jeb Bush’s former lieutenant governor Toni Jennings, Al Cardenas, who served as Florida GOP chairman under Jeb, David Griffin, who headed Jeb’s second -term transition office and was the Florida Lottery Secretary, Sherri McVay, executive director of Jeb’s statewide advocacy council, and Kristy Campbell, the former governor’s press secretary, are all playing roles in Romney’s campaign.

He was introduced by Poppy and The Quaker Oats Dude.
The Republican Party will inbreed itself into extinction soon (that's my xmas wish, at least).

26. Republican primary voters think Chimp's doing a great job--Helps Willard
This will hurt Huck with the neocon types but help him if he wins the nomination.

This will shore up Mittens among the Neocons and he may pull some supporters from Rudy G. The good news is that the Democrats will have a field day with this if he's the candidate.
