Then you have a clash of strengths...

McCain's strength is that he's McCain...The Democrat's strentgth is there are more Democrats than Republicans and the political environment (issues) favor them...

I think if you look at political history the political environment has a greater impact on results than the candidate... A Republican was not going to win in 1932 and a Democrat was not going to win in 1980...
