Honestly, I'm wondering how many of you are in this for the long haul, and how many are putting all of your effort and hope and investment in the process into one person?

If there are ONLY a couple of candidates in the field that represent what is important to ME...does that mean that my views do not matter if that candidate is overlooked?
AND...if MY views do not matter...then why should I spend time, effort and money supporting the person who doesn't give a shit about my views? And why should it even be an issue, because if my views do not matter, then I do not matter. Who really gives a shit if I end up supporting a different candidate or not?
How many personal issues are we, as progressives, expected to compromise on before we turn into something we cannot live with?

Honestly? I don't know how I will ultimately react if one of the two candidates that I abhor make it as the choice of this party.
What comes first? You renounce your party or your party renounces you?
Only time will tell. Right now any speculation is premature.

6. Lots of issues are important

to ME. But I consider the future of our country to be much more important.

Any of my issues won't matter diddly squat if the next couple of Supreme Court Justices are picked by a Republican president.

In 2004 I was seriously disappointed when Kerry was chosen but I slapped on the bumper sticker, sent him some money and did what I could. I voted for him.

I'll do the same this time around and will back our candidate. It's hard for me not to go into this with some cynicism since I never underestimate the Democrats ability to lose elections. 2006 was a pleasant surprise.

5. i survived the Dean scream and went on to vote for Kerry in the general.

i have my candidate but i'm prepared for a loss but i'm hoping for the best. I'll support whoever gets the nod even if it's not my 1st choice.

I firmly believe that one of the front 3 candidates now will win the nod. I also believe that we'll have a "D" president. I also believe that although much better than the "R" candidate, unfortunately, we will still be disappointed over and over again.

I'll be the one with a "Don't Blame Me, I Supported Kucinich" banner in my sig line.

It's our job to hold whoever-it-is' feet to the fire and keep him/her from triangulating over to the center right while disregarding the left.

I'll certainly be here through teh election - and I fully expect to support the nominee with funds and time and vote of course. there is no remotely feasible nominee I would not be perfectly happy supporting fully.

Assuming though that they win, I will probably be less likely to come here as in the web site. I mean what would be the point? I'm not on the far left side of the party so I don't expect to be too angst-ridden about lack of sweeping progressive efforts (I'm certainly in favor of many of these - including universal health care first and foremost - but I just don't expect any great drive to end "corporatism" or the drug war etc). In the Clinton years I certainly didn't feel the need to seek out a site like this nor would I in the putative Obama/Edwards/Clinton(F) years.

But through the election yep I'm there.

Living in NY we are part of the huge super duper bloc, but I would assume Clinton has this in the bag. I will be voting Richardson if he's still in, or Edwards most likely if he isn't. (and no I still don't expect sweeping progressive efforts even if Edwards succeeds).
