God, Hillary and her camp are such biters!!! LOL, she doesn't have an original bone in her body. The empress has no clothes. Does she even know what she stands for? LOL

1. Oh my god! She didn't invent a new phrase for "fired up"?
REAL candidates new phrases and words to say whatever they want. How unoriginal! Hillary is such a loooooser.

53. and he's wrong
I respect Obama's idealism. He wants to be a uniter, bring people together and all that good shit and I can't express how much I respect that very laudable aim BUT (you knew there'd be a "but"), this is a war, we need to start fighting back. Anyone who still considers themselves a Republican is not going to give him a nanometer, they're going to fight him every step of the way on absolutely everything. Grover Norquist (one of the leading lights of teh neocons) once described bipartisanship as "date rape". Obama sees himself as a referee, the Repubs see themselves as a back-alley knife fighter. Guess which one is going to the ER?

In a nobler time, against a Republican party that genuinely had the country's best interests at heart, Obama might have made a great president but this is not that time and no amount of "one America" speeches is going to make it so. The class war has been ongoing for thirty-odd years and you need Churchill, not Chamberlain.

63. I disagree.
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 09:33 PM by AtomicKitten
Obama's background as a community organizer, civil rights attorney, and lecturer in constitutional law makes him uniquely qualified to serve the interests of the people AND get shit done.

His message: You can stand on principle without being disagreeable. That message has been extrapolated to mean "bipartisanship" and "kumbaya" for not particularly nice partisan purposes.

I vehemently disagree that we don't need light in D.C. That's precisely what I want. Open government. Perhaps you disagree? Conversely, if you think we need more fractious government and acrimony in D.C., on that point we also disagree.

83. I think fractious government and acrimony are unavoidable at this point
I think, to be blunt, that Obama (or whoever is elected) is going to be forced to be disagreeable. Naturally, I'd like open government but the other side don't and I'm undecided if Obama has the steel to get things done when the other side (half of whom already dislike him for being black) is going to fight him every step of the way.

86. Interesting
Courting independents is fine but I'll admit I have mixed feelings about courting Bushies. If he can make them wake up, good for him but if the past seven years have proved anything, it's that cynicism is a necessary survival trait in politics.

39. Hillary is a follower of Obama....
"We are fired up and we are ready to go, because we know that America is ready for change," Hillary said moments ago in Davenport, melding Obama's signature line into one of hers in a sort of campaign slogan medley.

She's also got a radio ad out casting her as the candidate of "hope,"

This is shameless. Hillary is no leader. She is a follower. Here is one more example of Hillary following Obama, even in his choice of words!

14. Sound like Amway phrases to me.
Ever been to an Amway "function?" Where waves of motivational cheerleaders come at the audience for hours and hours, exhorting them to go out and show the Plan, telling them they, too, can be rich if they just keep following the system and buying books and tapes?

"Fired up!" and "Ready to Go!" are what they say.

67. He didn't make it up. He got it from an early supporter.
http://www.thestate.com/154/story/257405.html

The candidate’s and councilwoman’s paths crossed for the first time when Obama visited Greenwood, population 29,000, as a favor to a local politician whose endorsement he was pursuing.

Although most candidates have ignored Greenwood, Obama pledged to visit after meeting state Rep. Anne Parks, D-Greenwood, last spring in Columbia.

In a moment of exuberance (“maybe I’d had a glass of wine,” Obama usually says), he asked Parks what it would take to get her endorsement. She didn’t hesitate: “Come to Greenwood.”

He did.

After a 90-minute drive, Obama arrived in Greenwood, where he encountered a small crowd, as he tells the story, “and they’re kinda miserable, too,” he says. “But that’s OK. I got a job to do.”

Suddenly, “a little woman, about 5-3, 65 years old, in a big church hat, with big glasses, she’s smiling right at me. She says ‘Fired up!’ I jumped, but everyone acted like this was normal. They all said, ‘Fired up!’ We hear the same voice saying, ‘Ready to go!’ And the people, they all say, ‘Ready to go!”’

Soon, though, his confusion gave way to enthusiasm. “After about a minute or two, I’m feeling kinda fired up,” Obama says. “I’m feeling like I’m ready to go.”

On the stump, he concludes the story by inviting his audience to chant along with him in a boisterous call and response.

"no sense of self"

It's like she's become the spokesperson for Hillary, Inc. instead of just being herself, perhaps.

One of the things I like about listening to Obama on C-Span today is how he sounded so authentic and real, like someone I could relate to or be neighbors with. He laughs at himself and doesn't take himself too seriously.

89. well when all is said and done and i am not speaking about iowa
or n.h. but after feb. 08(or the end of feb) and hrc has the majority of delegates and is our nominee then I would hope unless you are going to support our nominee that you all post your hatred elsewhere. We will be trying to change america and making sure we can have a bigger share of the pie in the senate and in the house.

HRC wants to make major changes in america and bring back the pride we all felt on January 20th 2001 as Clinton was leaving office and we all hoped america would still be that beacon of light for us all. These last several years we have seen this country, our country become less then what it is and we all need to pitch in and do our part. JFK's words now more then ever ring so true, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." We have that moment in time where we can make this happen, and I believe HRC can be the one person which can make the difference, but it will not be her along that does it. It will be "we the people" that communicates with our reprsentatives in congress and tells them what we want and need for them to do. Hey, if we can browse through all the discussion boards in DU for an hour or so then we all can surely write our congress person and voice our opinions as strong as we do in here....

90. This is, perhaps, the stupidest thread I have ever seen on this siter
and that's saying something.

And my friends wonder why I seldom post here.

This place is beyond foolish.
