JFK, MLK, & RFK..........
all rolled up into one candidate - Barack Obama.

I was fortunate to be young during this era of our history and the enthusiasm, spirit and hope was intoxicating and contagious. Unfortunately - in all three of these cases it was snuffed out and left our generation cynical and fearful and easily manipulated by those who want to control.

One thing that I incorporated into my development as a person is to learn from others and incorporate their good attributes in my lifestyle and discard their questionable qualities. This is how I became who I am.

When I look at Barack Obama - I see the best qualities of JFK, MLK and RFK rolled up into this one individual. It is almost like destiny that such a person could come on the scene. It is almost like someone is watching over us and guiding us to this moment.

After the devastating performance by George W. Bush during his reign (which I have to add is still not over) my hope for this generation is that they have leaders that inspire, engage and energize so that this country could re-obtain its dignity in a post Bush era.

I see that Barack Obama can be that leader.

Given last nights results it appears that - I might - we might - realize this hope for this generation.

When I look at this current young generation now - I see not a cynical nor fearful generation - but I see a generation that is not involved - not interested - not caring. After hearing the analysis of how Barack Obama won last night - I'm seeing that he might have struck a nerve in them to get them involved, interested, caring and energized.

Kudos to Mr. Obama and continued success in his sincere endeavor to 'change' this country and 'change' this world.

2. As Tweety and others have said, he's the "Anti-Bush".

3. Not even close to any one of them.
Certainly lots of potential, but Obama seems like a feel-good copy of the real things.

The only thing I see him sharing with the JFK is Harvard.

4. Obama is a great Obama,
there's no need to reach for comparisons to anyone else. I don't see it anyway.

5. global1, those of us who lived that time may not completely agree.
He is certainly a beneficiary of their work to move the country forward for all of us, but MLK in particular had a vastly different rise to prominence and also commanded the attention of the nation in way which I've not yet seen from Sen Obama.

Rev. King was arrested and jailed three or four times, IIRC he was stabbed during a speaking engagement several years before he was assassinated and was constantly under the threat of death during a time when it was unheard of for a black man to attain that level of political stature.

His "I Have A Dream" speech before 250,000 people still lives on, a decades long legacy.

Sen Obama is only beginning his foray into the national consciousness.

I do believe that Sen Obama has the opportunity, the smarts and the compassion to be a leader that will inspire in the same way. He's a wonderful speaker. I am awaiting his galvanizing moment. However, to say that he is the equivalent of these three giants among men, especially in the eyes of those of us who were inspired by their bravery and devastated by their loss, seems a bit premature.
