Would Obama supporters and detractors...
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 04:46 PM by TWriterD
mind weighing in on what they like or don't like about Obama? Or maybe point me in the direction of some "in-depth" threads on his candidacy? Beyond "hope" and "change", that is. I'm pretty well-versed in Clinton and Edwards, but not as much with Obama.

Thanks in advance.

1. I like his temperment
he's a bunch of liberal values and ideas wrapped up in a conservative's package - with a moderate tone and completely unthreatening. In other words, he's like a liberal submarine. instead of someone like Edwards or Clinton, who's more like a liberal tank.

2. Obama is handled by the old school DLC types. He pretends to be a new face with
new ideas but he is old school inside the beltway player.

3. I think he makes a great speech
and has a gorgeous smile and photogenic family.

What I don't like is that he's running for President before his butt's had a chance to indent his Senate Seat and that he packs his speech with a lot of soaring rhetoric and very little, if any, substance.

It's nice to hear we're all one people in one country and we should all work together, but, um, is this an Election with the fate of our Country in the balance or a cake walk at a church picnic?

5. This article lays it out, I think
What I like about his past, is that he is committed to working for and most importantly empowering the downtrodden.

7. And from Michael Moore email today:
And from Michael Moore email today:
“So Barack, you can talk all you want about "let's put the partisanship aside, let's all get along," but the other side has no intention of being anything but the bullies they are. Get your game face on now. And, if you can, tell me why you are now the second largest recipient of health industry payola after Hillary. You now take more money from the people committed to stopping universal health care than any of the Republican candidates.”

8. Good point
It does prove that most voters don't know or care about the issues or what Bush/republican bills their candidates voted for. It's all and only about who they like.
