Published: January 5, 2008SINGAPORE (AP) -- Male macaque monkeys pay for sex by grooming females, according to a recent study that suggests the primates may treat sex as a commodity.

''In primate societies, grooming is the underlying fabric of it all,'' Dr. Michael Gumert, a primatologist at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, said in a telephone interview Saturday.

2. The males aren't being nice. The higher the supply, the less they groom the female

Sounds like they are only thinking about sex.

And as with other commodities, the value of sex is affected by supply and demand factors: A male would spend more time grooming a female if there were fewer females in the vicinity.

What would you do, if you are, or were a girl, if you discover that your guy is being less nice to you because there is a higher supply of women out there?

Beware of "science" interpreted thru bias. That's how we got the Alpha Male theory. You know, big macho male is best because he controls all the females and will therefore have more offspring. Turns out that the Beta male who brings a fruit or grooms a female or watches the kids gets laid more often and has more offspring than Mr. Big Brute. The info was always there. All they had to do was stop looking with their prejudices.
