CLINTON/BLOOMBERG as an INDEPENDENT ticket? what would you do?
So there is the question?

If she doesn't get the nod for the dems.

Should Clinton run as an independent?

Clinton/Bloomberg? Clinton/Other?

Would you vote for her?

Would it ruin the race?

Would cause a republican to win the whole thing?

Would she have a chance?

Do you think she actually would?

Do you think her supporters would actually follow her if she did?

4. what?
I'm NOT being an ass, and it's not an ass question. You should answer the question by saying that you think it is a terrible idea instead of attacking me for asking it. I didn't say I thought Clinton as an independent was a wonderful idea. I was asking what others thought about it, positive OR negative. I've heard more than one person bring it up in various threads and thought it should be discussed.

5. clooney?
I'm not making up stupid stuff, and I'm not saying she is PLANNING to do it. I am asking for opinions on the idea. I saw another person post something similar in a reply to another thread on here and thought it was an interesting topic to discuss. If you don't want to discuss the topic then don't, but you don't have to insult me.

10. I know
That's kinda what I was thinking. :( While I'd love to see her as president, I would never vote for her as an independent if it meant putting a republican in office over a democrat.

15. No, no, someone corrected me
I had typed that my son had mentioned a Clinton/Bloomberg run and it made my stomach sink. Another DUer reminded about the state issue, which we would all remember because Cheney and Bush shouldn't have been allowed on the ticket since they were both from Texas.

But thanks for the compliment anyway.

17. well
Well the original point wasn't exactly her being on the ticket with Bloomberg... but her making an independent bid for the WH if she did not get the nomination. Which would wreck havoc in general. It might keep Obama from winning, it MIGHT (small chance) make her president, but it has a very very good chance of landing a republican in office. so ... I simply thought it was an interesting idea to discuss, put down, or (if anyone wants to) defend. With all the 5th grade "ass" comments that I can't imagine came from adults. Seeing as I know of no adult who would use such childish language when talking to the employee in the cubical next to them, or to someone in their church, or at their school... but hey, cowards talk like that online all the time because they don't have to actually face the person attempt to degrade. It makes a statement about thier own personal life) Apparently, ideas are only allowed on this board if they are popular. Hell, I didn't even say the idea was a good one, so I don't know why I get attacked when people should attack the idea. Given the questions I asked about the idea in the opening post... I left the idea open for attack, but it is bad form to attack someone for merely PRESENTING the topic for discussion. What immature jerks. (Applying to the people who called me an "ass" for posting this topic. Not the rest who thankfully had comments on it.)

19. Its an asinine question--Clinton would never run as an Independent
why do people like to stir these things up. Most long time Dems and especially one who is the wife of the former democratic president will not go the indie route. Most people who lose primaries don't pull a Lieberman (who was a big exception) to run as independents. The Clinton's also like power too much and know that they will be through with the DEM party if they did anything like that.

20. Depends on who the Democratic nominee was....
In any case I HIGHLY doubt Hillary would ever do that....

And either Hillary or Bloomberg would have to resign and move since the Pres and Veep cannot run from the same state...

22. Heck No, I 'm not following her now I am for Edward who came in 2nd in the Iowa C.
If we let CNN and the other media pick our candidates, we are for sure going to wind up with a dictator, of course we have one in a style if the media is allowed to do to candidate what they are doing to EDWARD for the whole campaign, heck we the average american can't take on corporations by ourselves, Edwards is trying to help us, wake up and vote for him.

23. Would split the Dem vote,
like Perot did to the Republicans in 1992, opening the door for The Big Dog.

It would be ironic that the robust third party candidate dynamic that propelled her husband into office and launched the Clinton political dynasty would be the same dynamic that would cause the end of that dynasty and the continuation of Republican rule.

Her and Bloomberg would not win as independents, and if the Republican, whoever that is, runs just a competent race, he'd win.
