There is no doubt, at least IMO, that John McCain is the Republican that we dont want to face. He does the best against dems in all head to head polls, and is still respected by many, even though he's just George Bush all over again when it comes to the war. John McCain is in a dog fight with Romney in NH and it is time to suck it up and root for Romney so McCain's run can finally end. Romney and Huckabee are a hell of a lot easier to beat than McCain, so...Go Ultra Scumbag!!

Evidently, the so-called "Christian right" is fighting with the "moderates," if I understand it correctly. They're grappling with electability, and "conservative values," and personal histories of their candidates.

I hope it creates some nice deep divisions that frustrate some large percentage of them and keeps them HOME (or voting for a third party!).

15. Here's the ugly truth

We can't beat ANY Repuke unless we run a good solid campaign and learn from the mistakes of 2004. Americans are tired of the GOP, but not quite tired enough to make Democrats an attractive alternative. It would take a hell of lot to make that happen in today's right-wing America, so we need to get our own act together rather than worrying about who will be easiest to beat. We can't beat any of them unless we take control of the public debate and make our case effectively.

Much simpler and ethical to only root for those in whom you believe, and let the others self-destruct. McCain's very capable of doing that.

19. I think McCain is only effective in small doses.

He faded away a bit when he ran out of money and now people have started to come back to him. I don't think he fares well with a lot of attention. Kinda like Fred Thompson.

I'm nervous about Romney the most. He might be able to put together a coalition without the fundies that could win the general.

On the other hand, despite Giuliani's flaws, I don't see any of the other Repubs beating him at this point. Who's going to beat him in NY, NJ, Florida, and California? That's a lot of delegates right there.
