With three strong candidates, no single one will be able to get a majority before the convention, barring a blowout in New Hampshire that knocks one of the three candidates out. We must remember there are only 4 contests with delegates before the massive Feb. 5th date; add Michigan and Florida who won't have delegates seated at the convention. All 3 top Democrats have enough support to last through Feb. 5th, thus resulting in a 3-way split with no one candidate ending with a majority of the delegates. Even a third place finish will likely carry a significant enough portion of the delegates to force a brokered convention (unless Edwards makes a deal with Obama at the convention in exchange for a promise of an Attorney General nomination).

5. That's where the really good news comes in
By then the polarization between the Hillary and Obama camps will be so great that neither set of delegates could ever consider the other candidate. The Hillbots will also refuse to go with Edwards. No way to a majority. Leading to a drafted nominee that all sides can agree on........

12. It's not over until it's over.
I would love a 3 way divide at the convention. Force them to do what they're claiming they will be able to do in congress. Come to a consensus about the candidate without having gridlock.

Obama came in 1st but for all practical purposes it was a three way win since none were forced to stop. As of this day we're talking about all three candidates not one!!!

9. I don't see where one candidate gets a majority of the votes...
...as it will take a horrid result in New Hampshire for Edwards to drop out. And that isn't very likely.

6. This is the best and most honestly refreshing post I've seen to date..
I've just about quit even reading with all the "Will Candidate X drop out after NH?"

Let's infuse some LIFE into this Democratic Party, drag in the independents and some people who otherwise wouldn't vote and quit counting our candidates out before even 1% of the states have voted. Thank you for making sense !

14. Right now...
Right now there's only 1 delegate difference between he and Obama and New Hampshire will probably separate them by 1 more. If he takes second over Hillary, she's dead and it's a 2 person race where Edwards' chances are revived.
