1. He seems to have some progressive views. Looks interesting!
I hope he really isn't running as an Independent, though. We need to keep the progressive vote united!

3. I like him personally, and agree with some of his views, but I wouldn't elect him Dog Catcher
Well, OK, if there were NO other good candidates for Dog Cather, I guess I could vote for him for that office.

4. Speaking as one who had this guy as a Governor for a few years...

He's interesting, but he's also batshit crazy and has the biggest ego you've ever seen -- being Governor was ALL about Jesse. And he drives a Hummer.

5. The man is a pompous jackass who couldn't even govern a pat of butter.

He was an amusing diversion at first... then he started working in the job. That's when people stopped liking him.

6. Ventura's obviously despised by many here

But I always kinda liked him (I lived in Minnesota during his term). I like the fact that he stood his ground and didn't kowtow to any special interests or political parties.

Plus, some of his stances (lifting the Cuban boycott, opposition to the Iraq War, his support for Kerry, his take on 9/11, etc.) were pretty surprising. I also liked that he shook up the good ol' boys system in the DFL and GOP. The two party hacks he defeated for the governor's office, Norm Coleman and Skip Humphrey, were total loads.

I disliked some of his views (education, his disdain for single working moms, etc.) but hopefully he's mellowed since then. And as governor, he wasn't all that great, since it all became a circus sideshow.

And hey, he would want RFK Jr. as his running mate, so at least he's got some taste.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't vote for him as president. But we do need people like him who offer some interesting takes on the world.
