You know the more I think about it the motherfucker should have been arrested or detained. Causing a disturbance around a US presidential candidate, especially one who requires protection as Obama does, is a MAJOR SECURITY concern. I'm serious. Think about it. When the Secret Service is distracted it makes the candidate vulnerable.

Bill O'Reilly Causes a Stir at Obama Event

NASHUA, N.H. -- After most events, Barack Obama greets supporters while members of the press file stories or speak to voters leaving the venue.

Today one reporter decided to be just a little different.

Fox news host, Bill O’Reilly, who was not part of the traveling press, apparently stormed to the ropeline with a Fox News camera crew in order to speak with Obama. Many campaign staffers and members of the press were unaware that O’Reilly was at the event. However, after he got into a tussle with Obama’s trip director, Marvin Nicholson, everyone knew that he had arrived.

We found out about the altercation after news photographers returned to the press section. They said O’Reilly was shouting and pushing Nicholson, demanding that he get out of the way of his view of Obama. This happened as Obama was shaking hands with supporters just a few feet away.

22. O'REILLY'S ACTIONS WERE CRIMINAL (from, a Nashua [NH] Public Defender)

I was a public defender in Nashua from 2001 through mid-2007.

Assuming the reports (and O'Reilly's own words) are accurate, what O'Reilly did was illegal and should have gotten him arrested by NPD, an excellent police force which I respect enormously (obviously I know a number of folks who work there).

I have discussed this situation on my blog (http://www.sethabramson.blogspot.com) and e-mailed the NYT my e-mail address in the event they're looking to actually report this story accurately and have an expert on the criminal justice system in New Hampshire--and even the culture of the courts in the city where O'Reilly committed his assault--comment on what happened.

It really upsets me that I've represented scores of defendants charged with doing no more and no less than what O'Reilly did, yet O'Reilly's assault on Nicholson is treated as a curio and not a crime.

Feel free to pass this message along to anyone you like. Folks should know who and what O'Reilly is, and, more importantly, that the criminal statutes of the CJS applies equally to ALL persons.
